Toolbelt is only hotkeys?? Why?
Why would the toolbelt not hold the actual item in the hotkey?

It makes sense to me that the toolbelt would actually place the item ON THE BELT not just be a glorified hotkey facility.

Why not build this in to the game to have the item as hot keys like thousands of other games. We now have to spend precious resources just to enable a hotkey functionality??

Using resources should actually create more slots. This feels extremely silly to me...

Often mentioned, the way you describe is exactly on how it works on consoles, but not on pc. Why? Not a clue...

So youre saying that on consoles, creating the belt adds additional slots?? and yet on PC its just a glorifies hotkey facility??

why oh why? :-(
Punkerich Nov 3, 2020 @ 5:02am
Exactly. But you only have 4 additional slots/hotkeys, one for each upgrade.
When bound, these items disarppear from the regular inventory.
In fact, the console versions differ in many ways, skinable animals (like clownfish for example), even physics (can build a stairway from crates and hop on, instead of running through them)...
I had the xbox version first, bought steam version after i saw the massive differences to pc...

i have experienced that crafting toolbelt adds slots and you can carry more thıngs wıth you.
Wolvyreen Nov 3, 2020 @ 5:29am
@akif_15 surely not on PC version. Im playing on PC version and I dont have more slots...

I dont even bother with the toolbelt because it doesnt do anything on PC version. Would be nice if, say, the toolbelt was actually used to carry tools. Just saying.

I have 9 slots on my toolbelt and i think it cames with every cratf of the toolbelt. (pc)

@akif_15 I don't think you are seeing things the for the way they are.

The PC version toolbelt is only a hotkey facility. it is not additional slots.
turk0gamer Nov 3, 2020 @ 11:22pm
@Wolvyreen then from where came the slots? At the beginning i had 4 slots on my toolbelt!
Maybe with Leveling up but im not sure.
Wolvyreen Nov 3, 2020 @ 11:27pm
@akif_15 The discussion in this thread is about the fact that the toolbelt does not offer MORE slots on the PC version. on the console version if you hotkey an item, it actually removed it from your inventory space. On PC it doesn't. Take a look.

and I am running the latest stable version 0.74

Yeah, there's really no reason to make the toolbelts. Using the radial menu is pretty quick on its own. It's better to save the resources until you're mid-game and resource scarcity doesn't really matter anymore. Lastly, to make the toolbelt even more useless, since inventory space is so limited, you'll probably have to drop tools regularly and pick them back up. Now, I'm not sure exactly how it works, but sometimes the bound tool will unbind and sometimes it won't. When it unbinds, you obviously have to pick it back up and bind it again which is kinda the opposite of quick.

Having the tool actually on the belt fixes both problems. There would be no reason to drop the item in order to free up inventory space and, since you aren't dropping it, it wouldn't unbind (until it runs out of charges, but hey, I'll take it).

Well, this is why Im confused as to how the devs decided upon a toolbelt that was simply a glorified hotkey facility.

a toolbelt would imply that things are physically attached to the belt.

Exactly, but they are not, thus making the toolbelt for PC users useless
