How do i know when the crab meat is cooked!?
^^ I remember it going DING! lol but yeah how can i tell? thanks!

It now tells you Cooked or Smoked and so on.

As you pass your mouse pointer over the meat in the smoker, you'll see labels like 'cooked meat' or 'smoked meat' or 'smoked cooked fish meat', etc. if it doesn't say it's neither cooked nor smoked, it's not yet cooked or smoked. If it only says cooked and not smoked, it's exactly that--cooked; but not yet smoked.

Will smoked last longer before rotting away??

Yes; I almost exclusively smoke meat. Only if I don't have any cloth (1 cloth is needed and you only get 2 cloths easily found on each island), do I resort to just cooking only. But you can craft cloth, or sometimes find cloth in crates. Since you also need cloth for some of the raft you might want to build (instead of the yellow survival raft you arrived on); eventually you'll want more cloth.

Smoked meat will last forever. After the water still, a smoker is the thing you want to build in your camp.

I got glitched in a shipwreck it looked like a place you can swimm and then thats all she wrote! so i stoped playing for now! :(

My smoker dings when the meat is cooked and buzzes when it is smoked. As explained before, I use 4 smokers at once, so that I can get away with only cooking once a month...
