How to drop a fire pit.

I am trying to make a smoker and everytime I attempt to make a pit the pit showes up in red and I am unable to place it and help would be nice TY. Running Beta 0.44

make sure its not on water or underwater. or if your placing it near a object or item plz place it somewhere else. if that doesn`t work than update your game to the full version!

Just checking... you do know that you must place the fire pit ring of stones round a campfire right?

Place a camp fire.... place fire pit on camp fire.... place smoker on the fire pit.

If you will look at the recipe for making the fire pit, it shows a campfire is part of that recipe.... the same as the smoker recipe calls for a firepit in order to build it.

Everytime I have the stones show as a fire pit they are always red and I can't build them no matter where I try and put them. I must be missing something I will keep trying.

Step by step.....

craft a campfire (4 stcks) place the fire on the ground where you want your smoker to be...

craft fire pit (3 rocks) aim the fire pit ring at the campfire you placed and the ring will turn white... left click to place.

craft smoker ( 2 lashing and 3 sticks) aim at the firepit you placed around the fire and it will turn white... left click to place.

If you are doing exactly that and it still stays red, then you should exit the game and verify your files or uninstall and reinstall the game

I just did exactly that and steam found one file missing. I will try the game later and report. Thanks' again all.

also you say you are running an older version of the game... that might be your issue as well... current stable version is 0.48

The missing file was the problem all works fine now thank's.

Not sure if this is part of you're problem, but in 3rd person you have to crouch to place firepit.

I found I couldn't place the pit since there was another object too close to the existing fire. Made another fire with plenty of space around it for the pit and then it worked.
