Other rafts better than the wood raft?
I've found enough buoy balls for raft base ... will it be better than the wood raft? Speed, stability, etc.

Also, can I add a base to either side of my wood raft?

Yes, you can mix and match base types. They all perform similarly. The only difference is draft (how deep in the water they float ) The highesty draft is barrels, followed in order by wood, buoy balls, and tyres. It only makes a difference when going over a reef with tall stones. You can see the difference when diving under the raft and seeing how low each type goes. For example, the tyres seem to float on top of the water. You can put bases anywhere that you would like, who knows, maybe you'll come up with a new raft design. You should try to put the rudder or motor as close to the center as possible for best turning results. And the rudder/motor should be where it is easy to operate the sails and anchor. You also want to keep good sight lines so that you can see where you want to go, or where you would like to go.

Thanks, so much, for the info! Can I add another base to my wood raft or do I have to build a new one and add on? Also, would I have to "remove" the wood floor so the 2 hulls can be joined?

Hit the floor with an axe until it breaks. You can pretty much destroy anything you built with an axe and get the parts back. I had a 3x3 wooden raft with corrugated metal floors in the back and wooden ones in the front. When I had enough metal I smashed the wooded floors and replaced them with metal.

No, you can join a new base to one that already has a floor. But if your two bases already exist, you will have to destroy one and then add it to the other one. Would also recommend using odd number of bases side to side and front to back. Balance is the point of rafts and to be able to carry Giant Hogs, Giant Crabs, barrels, tyres, etc. in the center spot.
