Does the splint stay on the character? Or will it disappear when the leg is healed?

I accidentally fell off the top of a shipwrecks ladder and broke my leg, had mini heart attack trying to swim to shore knowing that i was easy shark bait due to how slow i was moving in the water with 2 in close proximity. Im currently looking at the watch and my character has the following stats
+splint
+healthy

im frightened to save my game in case this is a permanent affect as the wiki doesnt say if you only wear it for a certain amount of days etc.

It will disappear when healed, a week or so to heal (never timed it). It's OK to save.
