Anyhoo, I soon realised they were, of course, highly intelligent and pacifistic pacific pertinent porpoises.
They were just terribly, terribly misunderstood due to the psychological effects of having the wrong moniker, this has become more and more of an obvious problem as time has passed, I do my best of course but it's like swimming up a hill without a boulder ...or something.
For me, I usually use the refined spear (I think it's 4 refined spears for a tiger shark?) because it does seem to be the most effective. I put I think 8 arrows and 2 refined spears into a great white and it was still moving!

Spears and an arrow for the final blow.
petrus_arne - About the sharks flying away once killed - It seems this happens (to me) when they are in shallow water and 'clipping' the bottom or sides of the world with the last hit. Got one the other day and it was clear of the ocean floor and the island banks, and it sank peacefully down to the bottom. Any else find this is what seems to happen - or am I smoking something....?
My preference is the bow :)
Whaaa? you've found a marlin? I thought they were removed since I havn't seen anyone find one on youtube or find one on my own in a little while
can you kill a marilin. i have hit them with arrows and they just went through
Good idea. You've obviously been able to launch one on the kill and have it land on the island... that can't be easy. Someone stated they saw them despawn after the kill/flying act.... so I've never really bothered to go and see if it/they can be found...
Based on this and what others have said, I see I'm not the only one. That's so frustrating when that happens! One last shot, you think you've got a kill and a ton of meat (and now rawhide) but nope, the shark flies off into nowhere land.
I hope you're safe there!!! I would be so paranoid about my backside. That's cool though and I like how you have your lanterns all set up there too :)
