The evolution of this game since 2015

I got this game in 2015 and it was generally ok, i enjoyed it tbh.

By 2018 some rather dumb design choices ruined the game, like dying from eating raw potatoes... i eat raw potatoes IRL without dying. It reminded me of those old 2D games that are needlessly hard in unrealistic ways.

I am not against difficult games, but the difficulty needs to make sense. would be like a character being immune to bullets but dying from door mats. lol

However i recently tried the game again and i am enjoying that a creative mode has been added to work around all those dumb design decisions. the game is actually generally ok again with that.

Unfortunatly a bit after i got back into it, a new update came out that reset the game out of creative mode, and switched a lot of my settings back to default without me knowing. I like that you can play as female, but that got switched back to male as well.

i am to the understanding there is a command prompt somewhere in the game where i could wrestle it back to the settings i had, but i couldnt get my wasted time back.

I seriously dont understand the game-save method of this, its as if only one game can ever be saved. i'd be glad to see save files or save slots be introduced. Possibly with a save file format that is mostly future-proof.

after playing it for 2 days again, i get the feeling that the development of Stranded Deep has leaned too far towards adding new features and content, without focusing enough on the core issues that limit the game.

UI has progressed, but just barely, not as quickly as i had expected in 2015. The part that has improved a lot is the physics, i didnt have any of my items explode into the sea when put in a pile. But the stability and save features dont seem to make it so i can trust to invest my time into playing it.

I bet Gyrocopters are fun, they seem like a cool addition, but i still havent gotten to building one because its almost as if i might as well not bother saving and quitting in fear of an update. i was just 1 part away this time when i was killed by a little crab whilst thinking i was in creative mode 2 hours after last save session. so its rather frustrating.

I guess i'll just have to check back in 2022. i fear there will be more cool content i wish i was able to experience, but the game itself would stop me from experiencing them.

As ive not payed attention to this community surrounding the game, im interested to hear your thoughts on my outsider's opinion.

If you got killed by a little crab then your health bar was very low an therefore it`s your fault not the game, an I eat raw potatoes all the time an do not die, I suggest you pay attention to your player rather than the game mec. And remember it`s still in alfa, I`m glad for the updates and don`t mind starting a new game,it`s worth it to get new content and better performance. What I agree with is the save file crap. I too lost a save file day 55 and yes it piss me off but i got over it an stared a new game . We do need more save game slots so we can play different types of games. JMO

Yeah, I didn't play for some years, too- I'm really struggeling to get back into the feeling I had playing the first times. You had to pile the ressources on each other, now you have a crafting system and a crafting level (??). Also I might need to change the options but the graphics look way worse. And the l10n is mediocre at best. It's sad for me to see the little progress this game has made.

If you read his post the creative mode game was reset by a update. he thought he was in god mode.but was not. That`s why he didnt check his health stat`s. Read the post then comment on it.
