Stuck in raft.

Don't get this game, you can't get out of the raft when you use the paddle.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeah........check your settings/game controls. You can definitely get out of the raft when you are using the paddle.

if you are still operating the raft you cant, all you have to do is hold E again to stop operating the raft and then jump out.

Cant even get my raft to the island.... Keep using the paddle but it doesnt work and I drift further away....

pressed every key, nothing happened. Couldn't go to the menu because escape wasn't working.

I think what the poster meant is that when you pickup the paddle and then sit in the raft, tyhe game bugs out and disables all but the movement functions. you cant even hit esc and enter the menu when this happens. i,m having the same problem and the only way to escape is to use task manager and end the process(hard reset). So not sorted. im stuck in the raft untill further notice. additionally, the game wont allow me to launch in full screen mode anymore. Ive only started the game up about 10 times since download and this happend out of the blue. Ive heard trying ALT+enter while in game fixes the fullscreen issue, but havent tried it yet. will update once i troubleshoot more.

Not being able to escape whilst 'mounted' on the raft is by design as far as I am aware, you have to disengage from the raft to be able to use escape. Of course if you are unable to disengage from the raft that is most likely a bug and probably an idea to make a post in the bugs forum :)

ALT+ENTER fixed the full screen problem, but these are 2 separate issues. now im just stuck in the raft in full screen. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but im new to steam so i dont know how to clear the cache fully when i uninstall the game. I know this because my custom settings are still the same once i re-install. Is this a dead discussion where we've already found a fix for it? If anybody can direct me to the right place that'd be great.

1. You can't use the menu if you're in the ocean. This is by design. So until you're in the shallows of an island, and disengaged from the raft (HOLD E while pointed at the raft), you wont be able to use the main menu with Escape.
2. It's by design because you're never safe in the ocean and many games limit your ability to use the menu when enemies are nearby.

WASD and E are the only keys you can use while seated in a raft.

So, if you can't use the E key while you're using the raft, that's a keybinding issue and you should look into that before you load a game.

The raft doesn't go where you're pointing your cursor or looking, it only goes in one direction of travel, so orient your view to wherever it looks like it is going and then use the A & D keys to rotate the raft where you want it to go. Find an island and W your way there until you hit shore, then look at the raft and find the prompt that allows you to use the E key to stand up. Then use your mouse and drag the raft on shore. The rest is up to you.

your not understanding. E does not work. meaning you cant interact with the vehicles after you interact with them the first time. and this means that you cant exit the game. this issue has moved to the bugs section.

Bought for the multiplayer until I realized it was a split-screen multiplayer and I hate game controllers. I gave it a shot in single player but I couldn't get out of the raft. Holding 'E' while pointing at the raft did seem to do something (the little circle action thing in the middle animated) but it didn't disengage the raft. It definitely looked like it was trying to do something and wasn't just ignoring the control input.

I guess this means I wouldn't survive in any real maroon scenario. I iz not can get outta the boaty. Me are the dumbz.

Anyway, it's a massive game-breaker so I've refunded it. Might give this a try again if they can fix this early stage bug and implement network multiplayer.
