Dif Types of rafts cant be put together
i fought with this stupid thing for over an hour. i have a tire bottom w corrugated metal top & a buoy ball bottom w a plank top. besides the fact that they have to be in water to work on them, they constantly drift back to shore, by the time i get the second one out to work on them the first one is back on shore. so in between flipping therm over several times and being forced to keep dragging them back into the water, i finally get them both together in the water... just to find out they cant be joined. ive seen it done before but its not working for me. its nothing but junk already, how is it you cant join this stupid pile of sh*t? just started another game & wasted all those materials on this.

You have never been able to join 2 raft pieces if they have already been created..

You can only add to an existing raft or part thereof..

With the new updates, with ocean currents, I drag my raft onto the rocks, or put it on its side on the beach to add new sections to it..

You have to keep in mind that rafts can only be joined BEFORE laying the top cover made of either planks or corrugated scrap. Once you put a cover on a floater it becomes a "raft", and it cannot be joined to another raft anymore. So if you want to extend an existing raft, FIRST join the tyre or barrel floater to the raft that you want to connect it to, and once that is joined, you can then cover it with planks or corrugated scrap. It won't work the other way.

ok this has happened again, only there were no tops on them. spent 3hrs on my 1st island, keeping things going, cleaned out a cpl wrecks, killed a shark. got 2 pcs of cloth for sail & rudder. 3 barrels once so i made a small bottom. later got 2 of three tires before dark & a shark was hunting me, so last one floated off. barrel bottom was already made so made the tire bottom later only to find it must be joined to the barrels when im making it. IT CANT BE JOINED LATER. this is only the bottoms. forgot to mention i also wasted 28 sticks & 2 lashings on stick bottoms that i was going to join to those as well, BUT YOU CANT. they all have to be joined when you build each part or it does not work. in other words, i have 4 small rafts, a barrel bottom, a tire bottom, and two stick bottoms. they cant be joined. top or bottom, they cannot be joined after theyre built. i think im done with this ♥♥♥♥ for a while, this is really dumb and im tired of wasting my time.

Good lord, it has always been like this, you have to build a section directly to another in order to expand a raft.
While I do agree that it would be better to join raft sections after they are built, this would also enable us to remove sections from a raft, but you are blaming the game for mistakes that YOU make!

first of all calm down sunshine, i just got this game last month not 3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years ago. how is this a mistake that i made when there was nothing telling me this couldnt be done in the first place? and no joining them after doesnt necessarily let you take them apart later, simply because of the way they cant be joined, it depends on what the devs want to do it doesnt happen simply because you say so. as i said, if they can prevent joining them, they sure could prevent them being taken apart couldnt they, even though you can bust a part of your raft off with a hammer now cant you? but you cant simply take a lash and join your pieces of raft? that is completely stupid. trolling doesnt help, man. these are the people who have you build a hammer with rocks, and the hammer doesnt even have any rocks in it!

From what ive tried you have to start with a single 'base section' then to expand it it has to be floating and all the additional pieces have to be in your sight, ie all 3 barrels litterally visible on screen and then you can attach another section.
thanks

I would guess he has calmed down after a week. I would strongly suggest no more swearing as well. You guys either discuss this issue as adults from now on, or not at all.

A very good point, not everyone has been here from the start or been playing for a long time. Having recently returned from a stint of absence and from playing the older version, I had my first encounter with a sailing craft.
Normally I use the dinghy for a long time but a bug has stopped me from doing it this time.

I had no idea what I was doing so it took some time to get a 1 piece raft put together, then discovered I needed a sail ...and a rudder and now that I have to start again as you cant simply expand your current raft.

And I have been here since release :embarrassed:

Anyhoo, my first lesson was always be getting on the raft before putting up the sail...

You just can't swim fast enough once it gets going, so I just had to stand there and watch the HMNZS Dolphin sail away :whine:

I am calm and also was at the time I wrote this, but you didn't seem to be calm :campsunshine:

2 guys before me tried to explain that you couldn't join raft parts together after being built, but you went on and still did the same mistake by building raft parts separately and cursed the game because it wouldn't do what you wanted it to do, and that was the reason I said that you blamed the game for mistakes that you made, however I also said that I agreed on your point that it would be great if raft parts could be joined and separated freely after being built :campsunshine:

I get it that new players sometimes have hard time figuring stuff out, we all have been new and struggled with how to do things until we got experienced, and that is all right :campsunshine:

Some post and ask what they are doing wrong and how specific features work, others (like you) curse the game and is generally angry, some of them realize that perhaps they overreacted and give an apology of some sort for their behavior while others continue to stay angry at this stupid game - I ignored your first post because I thought... "He is new and is angry because he doesn't know how raft building works"

But when you after getting help from 2 guys explaining you that raft parts can't and never have been able to be joined, still tried it the same way again, swearing and cursing the game, then I reacted with the response that you were blaming the game for not being able to do it the way you want :campsunshine:

I am and was calm at that point of time, are you?

Have a good day.
Kind regards

Yes, you can mix the bases any way you want, and the tops..

What I do is drag my raft onto its side, with the side I want to add too on the top..

... or onto some rocks (with the side overhanging)

Then its easy to add another section...

Hi eagle eye, thanks, i have a difficulty here with 0.48 version, i cannot WALK while dragging objets, why ? i hold RMB and then cannot move. I'm on a laptop directx11 and use arrows up/down/left/right to move in the game... it's not easy for me this way to swim, drag, swim pick up, drag .... takes hours to bing 3 barrels on the beach :(

Do you have access to an external keyboard? Maybe that would help..

I use the wasd keys with no problem, but I'm using a full PC..

I switched to 0.48.00 from the exp version to test his, I have no problems with that version at all.
