My sister and i live in the same house. We have our own pc's and would prefer to play on separate pc's. Not stuck together Cramped in a corner of the room on a 22inch monitor. We both prefer keyboard and mouse. Yet one would be forced to use controller.
Having it Online so friends, even family members can band together is better for everyone, and Computers. Split screen is a strain on a single computer. Specially a game like Stranded Deep that's not even Optimized Completely yet, as well as people wanting to do their own thing. It'd take so much more Processing power for a single computer to render, 2 different islands. Because your pc is probably going to be strained when one person is sitting around at base camp sorting out the stuff there and another person going to another island collecting and hording as many items as they can carry back.
When the game is working fine with the split screen, then they can start coding the server support for lan multiplayer, and then move further to player hosted server.
One step at a time makes fixing bugs a lot easier.
There seem to be two different lines of information as far as I can see, one from the developers who say "the PC version is near completion. Anyone who has a problem with that, needs to reevaluate their expectations for a 2 man team."

And that coming from some players who seem to believe that development is going to carry on indefinitely.
Would be handy to know one way or the other, but definitive, concrete information has always been hard to get.

I have a big tv too. But i don't have anything for my keyboard/mouse to rest onto, or comfortable seats for that matter. There's literally No point what so ever, for me to pull out my computer tower, Mouse and keyboard, Rig it to my tv and mess around with settings for ages, just to get it to work right, to play about an hour or so worth of gameplay. When i could just realistically Host the game on my pc, and invite my sis through steam. Sadly, Stranded Deep doesn't give you that option.
