Stranded Deep is a survival game that aims to be a castaway survival simulation giving you the feel of being a real castaway with some hints towards the Tom Hanks movie "Cast Away" while Raft is a survival game that feels more like a Facebook game...
Let me explain...
I haven't played the new version of Raft, but I have seen several Youtubers play it and I have played the old free version myself.
I think Raft was a fun timekiller to play once in a while, but I always had a feeling of playing a Facebook game, fx FarmVille, you had to just horde tons of material to make make your base bigger and better, not a bad thing, but just isn't a simulation - Yeah I know it is a bad comparison, but that is how I felt when playing it(the old version of Raft) *lol*
Stranded Deep looks way better.
I have to admit that I didn't watch that long because gameplay seemed to consist mainly of raking in stuff with a hook and I got bored quickly. 😉
Maybe it's a fun game if you like raking in stuff with a friend, though.
Stranded Deep is a piece of ♥♥♥♥, even No Mans Sky got Multiplayer before this lol
I feel sorry for you.
Well he has a point. Maybe you're just anti social or don't have friends (i don't mean that in a rude way) but being able to play a game with a group of friends massively improves any game.
This has nothing to do with being antisocial or not having friends, I have been playing computer games for more than 40 years, singleplayer, coop, PVE, PVP... I love to play different genres in different ways :)
My first multiplayer experiences was back when when we had to gather with our computers on cabled connections playing games like Quake, Doom, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Starcraft, Diablo, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life etc. with friends and at tournaments/Gatherings.
A good computer game is not measured by its capability of having a multiplayer option, and that is why I don't think he has a point, and I feel sorry for him because he doesn't know what he miss out on by being ignorant/(game wise) ;)
Stranded Deep is inspired by books and movies of castaways, you know people that have been stranded alone on a tropical island and have to survive feeling alone with no one but yourself to count on - Games that can give you such an immersive experience should never be regarded as trash just because you cannot play it with your friends even before you have tried it.
There's particularly one movie that might have inspired the devs when they Decided to make Stranded Deep, and that is "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks, should the character in this movie also have had friends with him on the island to be a good experience?
PS. Stranded Deep does have Coop gameplay on its roadmap to be added before full release ;)
Raft is kinda fast paced, as you can barely chill out and take time building stuff.
SD is more slow paced and you're not harassed by some shark or whatever every 5 minutes.
As said earlier, Raft is a good time killer but SD has more depth and realism.
Kinda like arcade vs simulation.
Multiplayer was promised for this game and development has been very slow.
However they are working on it while bug fixing, optimizing and adding new content, perhaps that is why you feel it like a slow development ;)
Check out YouTube for gameplay on Raft to see.if you like it or not
Why do you compare Stranded Deep vs Raft? There is a 3. game like that called "Escape the Pazific" and im sure there are some more sir vival games with a raft, isles and sharks.
