How do you unlock the water still to build it before you run out of drink?

There are 3 emergency food packs in your life raft which should be plenty until you can craft a water still :)

Basically, by crafting. I built a stone tool, a rope, a knife, and then several more ropes...in that order. Still was unlocked in no time, allowing me to use the ropes to make flasks to make the still and aloe salve.

Also, creating your campfire and shelter can move you along quickly to unlocking the still.

With the new system, the water still is no longer able to be crafted immediately.

If you craft: stone tool x3, crude axe, crude knife, shelter, fire, stone ring for fire. Then you should be well past the level you need to craft the water still. If your craft is not high enough yet, then add in some useful item (fishing spear, crude spears, lashings.)

For water until your crafting is a high enough level. Drink no more than 2 coconuts at a time, then eat a ration. Cook small meat for food. between eating the rations.

In all actuality it does not take long to level up your crafting skill to be able to craft the water still.

Also the fruit trees bring up water a bit, I think.

Hi I have been on 4 different irelands and cannot find any tarpaulin to make water still I can only find cloth plz help

Have you tried using the cloth instead? From what I've read, cloth is used now in crafting recipes that used to call for a tarp.

Yep, Tarp is removed from the game basically, it's all cloth now. There is the odd reference to tarp here and there and if you load a custom map with tarp in it it's still there but you can't really use it.
