Build your base on a raft
hey so jsut seen the new update and pretty excited. Stopped playing last tiema fter i had done everything you could do ie motor raft and gltich on the trees to fly etc

Is it possible to skip setting up on your first isaldn and instead build a raft and place your shelter on it then travel and get the other bits you ened and jsut make a mobile raft base/ house boat that you upgrad as you travel?

or is the game not that advanced yet

No house boats atm no, not sure they are going to go that advanced in the future.

Sorry, but the design decision was made for no house boats. Houses on land, boats on water :)

However, there will be smaller things you can add to your raft like storage containers, canopies and outriggers in the future.

You can yes....whether it stays afloat or not is a different kettle of fish lol....as to when it will happen you would have to ask Sam.

Yeah, a common excuse for survivors not being able to pay their bills at years end... of course tiger is usually substituted with loan... nobody would train a shark to seek you out on a 25 square-grid map, right? ;)

On topic: Cosmo explained (quoted) it well enough. There are no plans to allow "houseboats" as the whole point of the game is to force you into taking necessary risks. :)

Thats rather disappointing as i feel making a cool raft with a shelter and progressing it into some sort of war raft then traveling all over exploring the depths

Oh well back to making a large base on a small lump of dirt

I put a bed on my raft and it worked perfectly fine. My boat is 2 long and one on the right side and left side. so it kinda looks like a pecker? xD I put the sail in at the end (the balls part of it XD) And then put the bed just above the sail. It went a little slower but worked pefectly fine. I even tried saving and re-loading. I spawned on the raft and everything was fine.

I managed to sail around happily with two containers on a 2x2 raft. Didn't seem to affect stability at all.

Will experiment with more containers and a bigger raft in coming days.

6 crates on 2x2 raft works fine. At least 8 on a 2x3 works too (didn't have more crates to test.)

Crates on their side tend to wobble and stacking crates is probably unstable. They only add a bit of weight thus avoiding the balance problems of other items.

A bed needs to be placed perfectly centre or it will destabilise your raft. This is best done when crafting because it is damn hard to drag it to the right spot. Especially on open water.

Also, when moving your raft from land it is better to drag than push as the bounding boxes can conflict, causing the raft to fly off.

Well that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. I didn't think the game was going for a rush to escape. I thought it was going more for survival/long stay type thing, I mean if you have a survival game with a big map that's mostly water, your natural inclination is to build little bases or farms and such on islands, and have a big house boat or build a bridge or whatever you want and explore the sea further.

yeah but having nothing to do but eat and drink on an island gets old SUPER FAST!!

plus you need to move around to gather resources or you cant build ♥♥♥♥ lmao. you cant build on the frst island and just hope to survive without going in the water its that simple, but there needs to be a better way to move resoruces and who doesnt love the idea of a house boat.

more content in a game aways bets less

wait till you play and youll understand
