New inventory HUD unusable

I like progress, but not when it breaks the game. The new pop-up invenory only shows the last(?) 8 or so items, with no clear method to display the others in your inventory. I had to resort to dropping all but those items that fit on the screen so that I could quickly switch between them.
Am I missing something? Is there a key that switches to the other items in your inventory? Was this tested witha full inventory?
I'll have to stop playing until this is cleared up.

The new inventory is 10 slots with 1 reserved for selecting free hands. This was mentioned in the recent patch notes ---

Well that sucks. I guess it's probabaly more realistic though.
