Joining raft sections?
I can't seem to figure out how to join raft sections. Are there do's and dont's?

They only join when terrain allows so you need to start in water. Don't be too concerned with them floating away, even if you are building in deeper water. If they are started on land or often even in the shallow spots, the bases sink and you won't get a snap option when joing other bases.
Well... I would try to write a small tutorial here, because i love rafts and i've experimented a bit with them.

First thing you have to know is that once you build a base for your raft, you HAVE to join every other base to THAT first base you built. If you build a second raft base away from the first base, you won't be able to join those two bases together.

Now that you know that, I'll explain a couple of basics of raft building:

First you build a base raft. Then you can place your second "piece" in two positions: The long sides of the base and the short sides of the base. It all depends what you want to build.

The Sail can be placed both along the long axis and the short axis of the base you're planting it on. This gives you the possibility to build you raft in different ways.

Ok... I think this will get you started.
Best luck and...

So you have 1 raft base then you craft another then look at the other base and put it on the side it should snap then just click it should place you can make it pretty big dont know how big exactaly And like said above sometimes it dosnt work on land so put it on the water and if you want to bring it up on the beach look at it and hold RMB then pull to land

Thanks very much for the help all. Mating the bases up in the water really helped. It sure is nicer navigating when you can see the front of the raft. Thanks again.

I tried this and lost 3 pieces of raft in water not too far from shore. Get message 'your raft has floated too far and will be lost' each time. No matter how close I got with the second part, I never got a snap option

Thank you so much for the clear explanation! I lost 3 pieces of raft by following another post which did not give clear enough instructions!

It's well worth the award for saving my sanity!
