How to boil water?
How long does it take to boil water? I am using the campfire spit and a bucket of sea water and it doesn't seem to be working. Does it just take a while? Or am I doing something wrong?

Update: The water boiled on the spit for about twenty five minutes until I slept, when I awoke the fire was out and the water still wasn't boiled. Decided to make a distillery instead of a campfire spit. When it rained not only was the bucket not filled but it didn't have a drop in it. Am I doing something wrong or does the game simply not want me to have water? I'M RUNNING OUT OF COCONUTS TO DRINK PEOPLE! HELP! SOS!

water boiling doesn't work.
The Water Collector allows the player to create fresh water from sea water. Wood is burnt during the process.
In addition to the components listed below, 2 Buckets (or 1 bucket and a drinkable coconut) are needed to use the Water Collector. Buckets can later be recovered.

Construction components:

- Stick x8

- Tarp x1

- Lashing x5

- Fire Spit x1

Place a Campfire where you would like your Water Collector to be. Upgrade through Campfire -> Campfire Pit -> Campfire Spit, then craft the Water Collector on top of the Campfire Spit.

Operation:

Fill a bucket with seawater by dropping it into the shallows, ensuring it has been fully submerged, then recover the bucket.

Hold the seawater bucket and mouse over the lower part of the Water Collector labelled "Spit". Left click to place the bucket of seawater.

Next take a Drinkable Coconut or Bucket (that does not contain sea water). Mouse over the upper part of the Water Collector where the tarp is. It will be labelled "Water Collector." Left click to place your bucket/coconut. Note that a Drinkable Coconut will only hold one serve of water, and will need to be replaced regularly to prevent waste.

Ignite your campfire to begin the process.

When complete, left click your bucket/coconut to recover it. The bucket can usually be placed upright on a level surface without spilling by orienting your mouse cursor at the horizon with bucket in hand, then dropping it. You may need to do this to keep your fresh and sea water buckets separate.

Refill and replace the sea water bucket if it runs out of sea water.

Wood Consumption while Asleep/Away:

It should be noted that placing 2 logs into the campfire then leaving the island or sleeping will yield a full bucket of fresh water on returning/waking.

Using 1 log will yield a bucket that is three fifths full (3 servings).

sea water doesn't just turn to fresh water anymore by simply putting a bucket on the fire. just place down buckets and wait for rain, or build either one of the two types of water collectors..solar still (slow, but just one bucket) or the big one with tarp and two buckets (the lower bucket with sea water boils, it condenses on the tarp and flows into the upper bucket. i think 3 wood are needed for one bucket sea water to turn into one bucket fresh water. you can always use other containers (coconut, bottle, bucket) to take it out of wherever the water is in.

as said above, you cant boil water anymore to make it fresh water you must either do 3 things, Lay buckets out on the beach and wait for rain

Make a solar still if you place it it will collect moisture in the air and drip down into the bucket this is a slow source of water but if you have 5 or 6 of them it is a really reliable source

Craft a water distiller. you mount it ontop of a spit you put a bucket of salt water on the bottom and an empty bucket on the top when you burn wood the water will evaporate and the tarp will catch it and drip into the top bucket. since salt dosnt evaporate it will be a bucket of fresh water in about 4-5 game hours.
