How to save game?

I just started playing the game, (right when 0.19.01 HOTFIX was released) so i wasn't around for the versions where you spawn with a knife and and lighter. I played for about an hour and was immersed. But, there is no save button. When I press ESC there is "continue, options, exit, exit to desktop." and when i hit exit or exit to desktop and re launch the game, there is no "continue" there's only new game and cartographer. I looked where the "saves" for the game are supposed to be inside the "data" folder and there are no saves. Please respond, this is game breaking for me because i cannot really make any progress.

you need a bed or shelter.

Thanks lol, I thought there was a "save game" feature in the main menu

sucks because on my first play through i was just about to craft a bed but i quit beforehand.

Yep, there used to be a "save game" feature in-game but the devs removed that and made it that you have to make a bed or shelter to save.

That sucks if you don't have an initial couple of hours to put in to learn the game and craft a bed.

The tutorial teaches you about saving, and other useful information. It's a pretty short tutorial, doesn't take too long to get through.
