why all the islands in this game are so so small?

I just want a island that is large enough to spend the rest of my life on it, sitting on the beach, watching the sunset while eating my fried fishes.. islands are now so small that I don't even have the desire to explore it, I know that I can create a unqiue island myself, but how can one having fun with the map created by himself? i mean you've already know everything about the island, there is no exploration at all, and community system is not available so far, which means i can't get a map created by others. Is it possible to make a bigger island now?

i have randomized the map a lot of times, I've been to the biggest island in it, but it is still too small.. are you sure bigger islands will come in the future?

they seem to have shrunk the islands, its annoying, the islands were huge about 6 months ago, but then they made them tiny...again. i have to make my own custom islands if i want decent ones, or experiment with world seed numbers.

It's not something we need to fix as we never promised or intended to have large islands and have always tried to make it clear that SD is a small island-hopping game. However - your feedback has been heard and we'll take it on board for the next project :)

There are definitely NO plans for bigger islands in the future.

If you aren't sure about what was said in the future, you should do some research first. ;)

The devs have said the map will be getting much bigger than the current 5 x 5 grid. Perhaps we will have enough islands so we can gather the resources for a nice plank house. I hope they give us lots and lots of islands...but we don't know how many yet.

Is there any plans to expand the grid to something massive and make it a real exploration? At the current size it's so simple to map it all out rapidly. I'd love to be able map out a massive array of islands that had the ability to run across unseen tribal villages, shipwreck survivors and other such forgotten settlements.

I'd also like to have it big enough where if I don't take the effort to map out my world I could actually get lost instead of having a simple "Find edge and count your way to center" like it is now.

Yes, the grid is going to be lot bigger, but as Lucy already stated, we have no solid information as to how big exactly. I personally would guess the largest (literally) limit would be the save files growing to insane sizes.

I have been having fun with the cartographer. You can make a pretty large island --larger than anything you see in the game now-- and add enough complexity to it to create multiple biomes with things to do: For example, I design a shark-hunting rock jetty with a dug out seafloor stocked with sharks! I add hidden grottos that lead to shipwrecks and secret stashes of goodies. Add lots of fun things to do, lots of shipwrecks and scrap steeel, planks, whatever! Then make a few more and randomly place them in the world. You'll forget the details of each island and they will be fun to explore. At least I think so :)

That's a completely new way of enjoying the game, but as what i mentioned above, it's a map created by yourself, you've already known everything about the island, that makes you less desired to explore it, besides, it takes much time to create a really good one, and you know what, the map you've created might be fun,like u said you can hunting sharks, doing something that you can't never experience in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map, but it is not balanced to some extent, it somewhat become.. not a survival game.. maybe i think too much and type too much lol, just wanna pratice my english, which is sucks, cause i'am a chinese student.
