Cant dismantle shipping containers?!?
Hi I apologise if this has been asked a million times or if it was changed in a release but I missed the note but I have been hacking away at my container for the past half an hour with my axe, pick, and hammer and nothing happens when I hit it millions of times. I tried clicking fast instead of holding my mouse button down but its the same thing.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks :)

I was able to dismantle one with a refined axe. Took maybe twice as many hits as the older versions of shipping containers. Once it separates you have to grab it with your hands and yank it out.

Maybe try moving closer / different angles. The hit box could be all wierd or something.

It takes 30 hits with a refined axe.

Can confirm 30 hits with refined axe, the panels can get jambed in place sometimes. I've tried throwing logs at the panels to unjamb them, to no avail. The last container that I found (exp 30.0), I managed to salvage the doors and 2 panels, but then had 3 panels that where sitting at slightly odd angles that I couldnt remove. The container was on uneven ground with the panels that stuck being in contact with the terrain, which could be causing the problem.

How did you get the container door and panels back to your island??

My current raft is 7 tyre bases wide by 4 long (so 7x8) with flooring along the outside, but not the center, has a sail, and a single 1x2 tyre extension and deck for an outboard motor. I managed to transport all 3 panels in one trip from an outer edge island to my home island in one trip, by balancing the wieght symetrically. too much wieght too one side and you have an instant submarine :)

I'd also like to point out my monster raft is only possible due to making a few of my own custom islands. If you check my screenshots under my profile, there is a screenshot of my my raft from my last save which is similar.

That is a really cool raft but must be slow to turn it and especially if youre carrying shipping container items.

If the container is on the island you are building on you should just start the crafting where the panels are stuck. That is how I used them because I could not move most of them. If the container is not on your home island then you could use them for a temporary shelter when you go to that island to stay out of the sun when player effects are brought back.

Agreed but when you dont find containers until only LATE in the game and you want to use it on your main island, its such a pain to not have it on your main island. We need a way to transport it like dragging it under the boat or strapping it or something or give us a way to make a sturdier slower raft for transportation purposes.

(Using the raft i referenced earlier,) I am able to transport 11 crates, or 3 cargo panels, with minimal raft handling issues...a single drum however....sea anchor. I read last night that another player, (sorry cant remember who) used spears to hold the drums in place, and I have found if the drums can be mounted an a temporary frame of spears, (so that the drums do not come in contact with the ocean), they become far more transportable. Hopefully this idea helps out some of the other sea captains out there.....

yh! thats a great idea! :) thank you...using spears ....should have thought of that... /facepalm
