Can't light Fire Spit
Does anyone know what's causing this? It's really starting to get on my nerves.

Craft kindling and hold E on it.

also, refill it with wood or palm fronds first if you have already started a fire there before

Palm Fronds work at Camp Fires?
Someone told me Driftwoods also work.

This game tries to make you think about problems. What did you try to do to start the fire? Did you look at the crafting menu to see if there was something that might help?

Kindling.

I couldn't get the fire to start either. I crafted kindling, aimed at the campfire, held down E until my character's hands were holding the kindling between palms, mashed the mouse button a bunch of times so that the palms roll the stick between them, and nothing. I must have clicked the mouse button for a full 60 seconds and no fire started.

that animation with the hand has to be repeated more than 8times before fire appears, right?

Did you make sure there was fuel for the fire? aka fire went out and your trying to restart it, equip branches, deadwood. and hit e at the fire to refuel it

If it says Empty Campfire, you need to grab some sticks and combine them with the fire. You can add more to make it last longer, but frankly I think that's a waste if you plan on going to sleep while you're cooking.

Yep gotta restock the fire with wood. The more fuel, the longer the fire, so 1 wood can be sufficient for a few fish, whereas anything that'll take longer (or if you just have lots to cook) you can add 2+ wood. The main thing is you just don't want to put in more wood than you need at the time, because it'd be wasteful and you might've used that wood for a future fire, or building, or tools. :)

That's why I catch a lot of meat, put in smoker, and use 1 wood to cook instead.

You can take advantage of the Furnace's light to make things bright, but other than that, one wood to cook is enough for me.

Ah yes that's what I do too. Efficiency for the win.

Just earlier in the game I found out that indeed you can use palm fronds in the fire too. I had started a fire with wood but wanted to add more, and thought...someone in some thread said that they were getting a bunch of palm fronds but didn't say why. Now it makes sense.

Wish I'd known that earlier because that'd be a more efficient way of cooking, saving the wood you have right on your island (and thus the most easily accessible wood) for building and tools, and in general preserving it longer.

Then don't cook while you sleep. Pretty simle solution, right? XD
