How do you kill snakes

I must be missing something here, I have tried stabbing at it with a crude spear, I have tried upgrading that spear to a refined spear and stabbing. I have tried throwing the spear, only to be rewarded with my spear breaking. I am afraid until I can figure out how to kill this pest I must move back on to other games. Not a great impression coming back to this game after a while.

You just attack it with anything. with a refined spear it takes about 3 hits to kill. 1 refined spear throw to kill, my guess is about 2 refined axe hits. and not sure about anything else. just make sure you're hitting it correctly.

How big is the hitbox on the thing? I chased it around stabbing at it with my refined spear until it bit me enough times to kill me.

I have found it is quite small, the best way is to throw spears at it I have found ...be aware it will still move around and bite you with a spear sticking in it if you don't use a refined spear.

Edit: Quite small in that I have never been able to kill one without throwing a spear at it lol

I also use spears. When the snake is coiled up, I always aim just above it to ensure a hit. Then back away and wait for it to settle down again before throwing the next one. Works everytime.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will give it another go. To the devs, think about making this thing a little easier to hit, it is stupid ridiculous as it stands, or slithers as it were.

it really isnt hard at all to hit i encountered my first one today threw 3 spears and it died you just really suck

severs you just got to practice a little bit and get used to it. they really are pretty easy to kill. if you dont like using the spear craft a bow and shoot it with two arrows. just remember after the first hit he will still come after you.

I just snipe them from afar with a crude bow. Two arrows is all it takes, but that's me 'cause I don't want to risk losing health.

I always use a crude axe to kill them. The key is to stay close and attack it quickly aiming for its middle and not letting it escape. This last time I lost 3 health points, my worst time so far.

A crude spear and 2 hits ... after the first hit you must go back and wait a little bit -> the snake crawl with a spear - it looks funny.

Is the spawn random?, on 1 island i have 2 snakes and no pig.

Crude bow and arrow is the way to go. You can stand a distance away (out of harms way) and use right button to aim carefully while it is coiled up then left button FIRE!! In v0.24 it take 2 arrows to kill a snake. Same technique for killing a wild boar (4 arrows) but don't fire the last arrow until the boar has stopped running around otherwise your last arrow might make it fly off into the sea!

Use a bow and arrow....shoot first arrow then immediately back away because it will try to attack, then once it's settled down hit it with the second arrow......dead.
Cook it up and serve with smoked fruit bat and a side of potatoes.
