How to fix your game install when the .EXE is corrupt and you have to keep downloading

Hey guys, I finally fixed it! I was having errors with it saying the .EXE was corrupt and it could never complete the download. Re-verifying files never helped. But these steps did! I got them from clicking on the link of the error message to see more information


To fix this issue the first thing you need to do is go to your steam menu -> Settings -> Downloads and click Clear Download Cache.

Now, this will require you to restart steam and re-log in, but you should now be able to aqcuire all the files. If you start seeing another error about common redistributables, do this and restart steam:

Testing Common Redists
If you want to test your installation with your selected common redistributables, the ideal method is by using a clean OS image on a machine or VM.

You can also force Steam to reinstall common redistributables by deleting the following registry key:
32-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\Apps\CommonRedist
64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\Steam\Apps\CommonRedist

This fixed my game. You will maybe have to have first time setup run on other games, unless you went deep into the registry key and only deleted this for Strange Bridgade, but that's not a huge deal.

64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\Steam\Apps\CommonRedist" ?

It means deleting those registry keys in your windows registry editor will make you have to reinstall the first time setup stuff, which was what was causing me corruption and stopping strange brigade from starting. Reinstalling those cleans any corruption from the common steam redistributables that might cause games to have issues.
