I'm still starting out but all I have done is play the SP and yeah, I'm loving it. Of course, most games are better in MP but these devs have a good track record of balancing out their games for SP as well and this one is no different.

I have tried both the campaign, done 3 missions so far, and the horde mode. The horde mode is awesome. The story is okay, nothing serious and it has a light tone, similar to the Brendan Fraser Mummy movie.

Another satisfied customer in singleplayer here. I hesitated to get this game because I feared it'd be predominantly a coop experience and the campaign in sp would be a watered down affair, but having done the first mission I'd describe the gameplay as being equally split between comabt and puzzle/exploration, and as such, it's cool to do on your own and at your own pace.

A few reviewers have compared it to Sniper Elite: Zombie Army but that's lazy. Sure it's a third-person game by Rebellion, but honestly the similarities end there. It's more akin to an old-style Tomb Raider game than anything with 'Sniper' in the title.

Better coop but yes, absolutely.

Co-op with a friend from start to finish is the best, naturally. But if that's not an option, I actually prefer to play single-player first, to get to know the levels. I tried jumping into a match in a level I haven't unlocked in single-player, and it got confusing quickly. I had no idea where I was, what to do, or even how to find everyone else.

Plus, there is a narrator through the story, and he can be quite funny sometimes. I blew up an exploding jar, and it set off a massive chain reaction, blowing up a lot of other jars. The narrator shrugged and went: "They are not called Subtle Brigade, I suppose." I almost fell off the chair from lauging so hard. Don't think you're going to get much of that if you play multiplayer, though I'm not sure. But there are also collectibles to find, so there are plenty of content for single-player.

That said, I did get stuck on the second mission for a while, as the enemies seems to be designed for several players. Some of them are very fast, and some attack from a distance. Throw in a few dozen fodder enemies inbetween to keep you on your toes, and it can be very hectic. Much easier with more players. But still very doable in single-player, just a bit harder.
Don't forget you can also turn up the amount of Mummies to be similar to what a 4 player co-op experience would get if you want an extra challenge. :)

A note on the difficulty: if you turn the difficulty down to easy, you'll be able to soak up an enormous amount of punishment without dying. Great if you mainly playing on your own for the puzzles and experience.

Yes, this game is perfectly fine single player.

The game is fine in single player.

The story is boring though. Only 10 campaign maps you can play through very fast.

The game and season pass are way overpriced. Better get Vermintide 2 for 14€, including free co-op AI players.

I'd recommend doing the first playthrough in co-op, and second singleplayer to go back through and collect things you missed. Unlike everyone that's posted so far.. I don't think this is a good game to only play in singleplayer. The gameplay is too bare. When you play it in co-op it kind of hides that fact so it's not as noticeable, but in singleplayer it's just boring.

I don't play coop much because my friends are ♥♥♥♥♥ but I am on the last mission and I've been playing on hard with Max amount of zombies. It has taken me roughly 9hrs on this difficulty and that's with looking for shizz and doing puzzles. I have about 19hrs played total so far and this game has kept me off dragon quest 11 and that is one of my favorite game series. That speaks volumes

Absolutely. I didn't touch multiplayer at all and I don't intend to, and the game has been a blast so far.

Multiplayer games never seem to pop up anyway, so the only way I can really play it is SP to begin with.

No, this game is meant to play with friends. SP is..okay i guess. Story is pulp, but fun if you are in to it. Very over the top

Score Attack is definitely worth giving a go in single player too!
