White circle when tagging?
Hey, just something I've been wondering about for a while and haven't found any info on. When I tag someone, the little icon above their head is circled in white. But then, if I reload a quicksave, oftentimes some of these white circles around the icons disappear. Untagging and retagging doesn't make the circle come back. I honestly have no idea what this circle indicates, and it almost feels like I'm doing something wrong if it's not there. Like I tagged them incompletely, or something.

Anyone know what the heck this is about? What does this thing mean, and why is it so inconsistent?

It's supposed to stay, once a target has been tagged. (On Cadet Difficulty, it's a full white circle from the outset).

If you have problems after a reload. It's most likely to do with the way the information is held in RAM or some such. (In other games. objects such as player controlled lights may be affected in a similar manner).

If you plan to save and reload a section. Tagging after you've saved might help. It means you'd have to re-tag every time you load that save. But at least in that case it would let you? (Avoid looting officers, if you don't other squads to auto tag, for the same reason).

If that helps?

Due to its differing behaviours. It's easy to see how one might become confused, once it starts apparently misbehaving.

I think its just an aesthetic thing when you're directly looking at a tagged enemy through binoculars. It isn't terribly important.

It happens when you tag an individual or target for the first time. Once they have been tagged initially, information concerning them, will be displayed instantly.

Basically it's a timer which must be filled, before it pays out.

Sometimes you won't see it, because officers drop intel concerning other squads. If the intel is retrieved. The corresponding squad will count as having been fully tagged. Therefore the circle is unnecessary. Which is probably why you don't see it sometimes.

Oh, huh. Thank you. I've got nearly 80 hours in this game and I still don't know the basic stuff it seems.

The circle doesn't seem to go away if I stare at them for longer, so I assume you don't literally mean it's a timer of how long I have to look at them before I get all the intel.

Step up to higher difficulty.
