As for the DLC, you're missing out on quite a few extra missions. Including one to kill Hitler himself. They also provide options for character customisation, and a swathe of new guns. Of which the M1 Garand, TT33 and ZH-29 are well worth having.
I would start with the base game and see how you like it. If it suits you well, consider buying the DLC. It tacks hours onto the length of the game, and those three weapons are well worth owning. The Garand is probably the best all-rounder for Survival, the ZH-29 is a superb DMR, and the TT33 is a ludicrously hot-loaded semi-automatic with the punch of a Revolver.
