Nvidia users, Roll back to 399.24
Just to confirm, I just bought the deluxe version of this game on steam sale 12/20/18, downloaded it and had hard pc lockups, follwed by restarts and bad pool caller. I just rolled back my nvidia drivers from 417.35 to 399.24, working normal so far with no problems. (edit; as of rolling back driver to 399.24, I have not had a single problem since...)

Gigabyte Z390 Auros Ultra
8700k
Auros GTX 1080TI 11Gb
16gb ddr 4 3200 cl14
preditor z35p
several ssd's

Told same in all threads about BSOD and game crashing

Rolling back is no real option. I will wait and hope for new better drivers. And / or update from devs.

Devs told month ago that they wouldn’t do anything cause they think that is nvidia problem. All new versions of nvidia (since it started ruing to BSOD there were 4 versions) don’t solve a problem. If you want to play - use 399.xx if not - wait.

Let's wait :cozybrawlhalla5:

I am so puzzled by the massive problems people have. I use Windows 10 with an 8Mb 1080 on my desktop and a 765M on my laptop. I use the latest drivers on both. The game runs like a dream on the 1080 and can be a little stuttering on the 765M in grassy areas even at the lowest settings, but I never got a BSOD from the game.

I am curious as to what makes my computers different from everyone else's. Could there be an additional factor that interacts with the NVidia cards to cause the problems?

I've had about three BSODs while playing SE4 recently. I am relieved that it's probably not a general problem with my PC. It usually runs fine on my GTX780. What's the easiest way to roll back a driver? Do you have to manually download the old driver from the Nvidia website or is there a facility built in to Nvidia Experience to do it (haven't checked yet)?

Use nvidia ftp
This link is to Russian mirror of them but all menus are in English (drivers are multilingual) or try to find same link at your country domain zone

Pentium G4620/16GB DDR2400/GTX1060 - SE4 is the only game of the couple of dozen I have installed that cause BSOD & lock-up, no matter the driver version I am running. Not going to roll my driver back to suit the devs because they won't acknowledge it's their problem to deal with.

Odd ^ because I have zero issues on 2 separate PCs.

The issue is dx12 w async compute, toggle compute off...
So does this mean that I should never update to any future nvidia driver if I want to continue to play this game? Or is it possible that new drivers will avoid this problem?

We all r still waiting for it. 4 updates and releases have same result, hope they finally correct it or totally ruined our pc in order to force us to read books

What you have to under stand the latest driver is NOT all ways the best , Nvidia goofed up big time with se3 and a lot of other games with what i think was the 379 . driver , why does every one think the latest is the best , i have never seen any improvement with drivers from Nvidia over the last year , you look for a stable driver if it does the job , do not try to repair some thing that is not broken. I`am on the 416 at the moment but the game does not run liked it used to
I do not think so! But old outdated drivers are also no real option! So it is still better to wait for good new driver! :steammocking:

When you read what’s new in this “modern” versions you would not set previous versions as “old” )))) I prefer to play. When they solve this bug I’ll reinstall with pleasure new one.
