Magazzeno Challenge "Burn your Boats" bugged?
I figured I'd get this one out of the way early. So, from the spawn I climbed up the right path to the spot above where you'd climb just after a right turn. From there I did it a 2-3 times... each time blowing up both boats with my first bullet, and getting a nice chain reaction. But the challenge isn't registering!

I know that most videos show it done from a different spot, but the challenge says nothing about having to take the shot from a specific location. Is the location mandatory?

Update, I went to that spot and this time the double kill did count. Worked on the first try.

So... Yes, it is bugged, and unless you shoot from the specific location you will typically blow up both boats with one bullet but it won't count it.

If you kill the driver of one boat, it will stop. Then as the other boat passes, blow up both boats. You can then blow up both boats from anywhere along the coast line.

My problem was never "being able to blow up both boats with one shot".

My problem was that even when I did it right... the game would not count it.

I do not know why, but simply shooting from the position they use in most youtube videos (and of course also blow up both boats with one shot) solved the problem.

I think the matter is a bug in Sniper Elite 4's logic used to determine "with one shot". The Convoy Chaos challenge has a similar problem.

I suspect that they could not figure out how to determine that you fired only one shot and instead implemented code that measures the time from the first to the last explosion. So, a long chain reaction or an artillery strike that hits the last target near the end fails to register. If so it can be patched easily by extending the time window, or correctly by implementing the right code to count shots.

Hopefully they will correct the problem at least in the next game.

I have done this over 20 times now, shooting from different locations, and shooting the boats in different locations.

I have used both fuel tanks and gun barrels to trigger the explosion. Nothing has worked so far.

It's the last challenge I have to complete on SE4, and I'm past frustrated by it.

If you have bullet cam turned off. turn it on for this shot and see if it helps.
I took me a few tries but I think I got it figured it.
Theory: you have to destroy both boats with the FIRST explosion, not a chain reaction. This basically means if you're shooting at the engine, boat 1's butt has to be against boat 2s middle.
No easy way to verify my theory though.
