I picked up this game yesterday and have noticed every 30 minutes or so i have experience BOSD once and twice crashing to desktop. i am quite certain it isn't my P.C.

Specs:
CPU - i5 6500 @ 3.20 ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB)
16 GB Ram
Windows 10 Pro

It can be one of the latest Nvidia drivers , i run the same GPU and run the 416.94 Driver, but on Win 7 Pro , you can roll back the driver to an older one with the device manager
there are lots of more players here having problems on this page link below

I have the same issues, either the game regularly freezes and thows me back on the desktop or it throws my pc into a blue screen. This is the only software that has ever managed that thus far.

My System:
I5 6600
GTX 1080 TI
Win 10

Reverting back drivers might fix this but Im not willing to throw old drivers on my system just to run a single game without it crashing all the time. I'll be refunding this and forget about it.

If over 2 hours of play you may nor get a refund and as regards old drivers your PC will be full of them unless you use the DDU Tool to clean them all out, running an older driver may fix it and actually the drivers are not that old , i`am running the geforce 10 series for a gtx 1060 - driver 416.94 if you look at the list of available drivers it`s not that old at all , we had this problem ages back with SE3 where the latest driver crashed SE3 and lots of other games.

Some people are saying you have to roll back Nvidia drivers to 399.xx or eariler. How about no. How about someone needs to get on the same page so I can play this game again.

You need to read above and on the links to the tech section , ? Windows 10 as well that will Auto Update the driver , unless you have the tools to stop it, i wrote , old drivers are not that old read the nvidia driver download page,

Morsey, I know that common wisdom is to use an older Nvidia driver. If that doesn't work, try using GeForce Experience to get the latest driver. I know that sounds backwards, but my main desktop has very similar specs and works like a dream. Worth a try.

If nothing works, try opening a ticket with Steam support. If they can't help you fix it (they probably can) they will likely refund you.

I found an article the latest problems affect the more high end GPU`s like RTX series as the driver for those starts at 416.94 and i think cannot be rolled back , btw zOldBulldog did you get the program Speccy

I got it and installed it on my laptop (a 2013 Razer Blade Pro). I didn't bother on the 2014/2015 desktop I custom-built as that one blazes through the game just fine. Nice little program. I didn't know the Ccleaner guys had made it. This is what I see there:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 4700HQ @ 2.40GHz 65 °C
Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Blade (SOCKET 0)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Razer USA)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M (Razer USA) 28 °C
ForceWare version: 417.35
SLI Disabled
Storage
238GB SAMSUNG MZMTD256HAGM-00000 (SATA (SSD)) 32 °C
Optical Drives
No optical disk drives detected
Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

This is better than the Minimum Requirements:

MINIMUM:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8.1 or 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: Intel CPU Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB)

The game runs "acceptably" on minimum video settings, although since I added the Season Pack (I think that is when it happened but I might be wrong) the grassy maps became very choppy/stuttering. This is even on the original maps. That is strange, because I believe this is better than the minimum required specs.

My troubleshooting:
(steps that others might want to try too)

- I validated that my laptop is on the High Performance power plan.

- dxdiag is a little confusing to me... in the Display tab it shows the Intel graphics, in the Render tab it shows the GTX765M, probably valid... but I'm not sure.

-The NVidia Control Panel "Manage 3D settings" is on AutoSelect. I went to Program Settings and found 3 entries for SE4 already, they were all set to the NVidia card. Again, seems correct.

- I then went to NVidia GEForce Experience and found SE4 as an "optimized" profile and there I saw a message saying "Your system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for optimal settings in this game. The optimal settings may deliver unplayable framerates".
So I clicked the optimize button an it reconfigured NVidia for SE4 to the minimum settings.

*** So, the NVidia GEForce Experience settings DO NOT automatically configure the game for your hardware, you have to click the button!!! ***

I am now looking forward to testing it on the laptop... hopefully it will fix it. I will update this post as soon as I'm able to. Fingers crossed.

I tested, setting the values as indicated above, with everything at the lowest setting and starting the game from the SE4 shortcut, Steam and NVidia GEForce Experience. It was better but not good enough to call it good.

CONCLUSIONS from test:

1) The minimum requirements listed on the official site are hogwash. Further, an NVidia GTX 6xx or even 7xx is NOT ENOUGH to play the game without stuttering.

2) Forested and snowy maps are the worst for stuttering. Maps with mostly concrete and buildings like the docks or magazzeno that are mostly concrete... run the best.

3) ***DO NOT BUY THIS GAME unless your hardware is close to the RECOMMENDED settings***. If you are close to the MINIMUM settings it will almost certainly NOT run properly even at the lowest settings. A GTX 8xx video card *might* be enough, but I do not have a computer with one to test it.

RECOMMENDED:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8.1 or 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: Intel CPU Core i7-3770 or AMD equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 970 / AMD GPU Radeon RX 480
