"That gantry looks pretty unstable…." (and map orientation comment) Solved
Karl mutters this as he travels upward and on the left of the map¹ of the Magazzeno facility on his way to deal with the sniper that survived an encounter with him in Sniper Elite III…but…where is this gantry he mutters about?

Comments like this uttered by Karl are hints to take advantage of something in the environment, but there's no gantry, no crane, no suspended bridge, or suspension device of any sort in visual range (if you needed binoculars to see it, the comment would have been muttered while he was scanning the area with them). Was there something in the game that never passed development, and they forgot to edit Karl's dialogue / monologue?

¹ The maps are arbitrarily and unpredictably oriented in a non-standard fashion—north is not up, west is not left, and so on. The big maps you call up do NOT have a compass rose on them like the minimaps do.

Edit after my last post:
This came to me while I was fiddling around in Sniper Elite III. I forgot to mention to the fellow who quite erroneously alleged that Karl is British: Karl was in the OSS, or the United States of America's Office of Strategic Services, which was overwhelmingly staffed by AMERICAN service members. Karl is as British as I am…and I was born in New York.

Huh. That's not a gantry; that's a catwalk. A gantry is some sort of suspension device, while that is a self-supporting bridge, clearly not SUSPENDED.

But, hey—I appreciate trhe help, though; I know you aren't the part of the development team that put this snafu in the game. The next time I try this mission, I'll take care to approach the area with reasonable stealth so as not to spook away whomever I surmise I can lure onto it and shoot it out from under him. Really—thanks!

Actually, Karl is British, and a gantry or "gauntry" can also refer to a sort of scaffold.

Even in American English, a gantry is not necessarily suspended, it's more of a framework that suports other equipment, such as over a railroad track. A gantry can also refer to the scaffolding structure that services a rocket before takeoff.

Karl speaks with a markedly heavy American accent, and as there were Americans serving in the SAS, et cetera, during World War II, I can hardly be blamed because Rebellion's casting director made a huge error—he should have chosen a Scot, a Welshman, or perhaps someone from Whitechapel.

And as far as American English goes, that's not true according to the source I consulted prior to authoring this thread—which I consulted as a point of procedure despite the fact that I've been speaking English for roughly fifty-seven years and scored 100% on my SAT's verbal portion.

…And it wasn't spelled "gauntry" in the subtitling, either. Overly prevalent prosaic misuse does not a proper definition make. For example, just because nearly 20% of adult Americans pronounce nuclear as "nucular," doesn't make it right.

Unlike most Americans, I have five languages at my command, and no small number of dialects between them. Language is kind of "my thing."

Colour me no longer interested in petty quibbling. The question has been answered, and I'm unsubscribing.

Well I found the gantry OK, but I'm jiggered if I can see where to shoot it to (presumably) make it collapse. I think it's the first one I've seen in the game, so maybe they didn't finish off making it collapsable??
I hope SE5 will be even more immersive. For example, there could be an option to uwu Karl.

I think he's just making a comment as he walks over it?
