How to read the wind indicator?
For example, it is one unit away on the right from the center line, what does that mean?

I can understand that, for the vertical line, when you adjust to 0 meter, the 400 meter away object will almost just on one unit away on the bottom from the center. But I don't know how to use the horizontal line.

This is for the default selected scope.

if the wind is on the 1st tick to the left,
it means the wind is blowing to the left.

so you should aim to the right of the head of the enemey so the bullet will fly "forwared left"
to hit the head.

What is the accurate relationship between the "1st tick to the left" and how far should I adjust to the right, given the distance of the target?

it depends on the rifle you are using.
high velocity rifles need smaller adjustmeant.

for Springfield for example on 90m you should be congruent to the head.
at 100 it begins to be like "less than 1 head" to the side.
at 150m it is like 1.5 head's to the side.
at 200m it's 2.5 head's to the side.

with Geweher for example it start to be 0.5 head to the side on 100m.

best way to check it out, play the first chpater with aim assit.
go to the first tower, aim to a place where the wind is ~1 tick,
check to see where your hit will land with the Red Diamond,
estimate how many "heads" to the sides you should aim according the distance you are aiming too.

*keep in mind that head sizes are changing accordingly so 2.5 heads at 200m will be small distance, so you should aim "heads" to the side according the head you see at that moment.

Looks like I have to try every gun and remember them separately ...

In short: Muzzle Velocity, Distance, your stance

From Sniper Elite difficulty or above is a different story

With high Muzzle Velocity you need to compensate less both horizontal and vertical
About Horizontal line learn your scope dots and mark and adapt, keep an eye as wind blows
Every yard/meter counts

Take a tour on the Shooting range with your favourite Rifle and you'll see
Feel your rifle and practice

well of course.
even if you had real rifles, every rifle has it's own bullet drop and wind diversion.
people actually write it down on paper to remember how many MOA they should correct their shot according to the distance.
they even write down measurmeant of what they are shooitng at so that they can measure the distance to it.

you can do that in the game too,
measure the heads or body of the enemy and estimate the distance to him without using binoculars.

but dont worry so much, you dont really have to do any of it.
after you play for a while, you will estimate by yourself where you should point.
it become an instinct and you will aim by feel.

come on now....
what is so complicated about it?
just look at the enemy and focus on it's head.
you wanna tell me that you cant visualize a head next to it?
connected heads ear to ear?
if i tell you to aim half a head to the right? is it that compicated??

if it is, then you can measure it with a meter or even a small rectangle peice of paper.
put it on the screen, mark the head width, and now you will know.
you can also do it with the reticle but the reticle ticks are to far from each other so it will be more diffcult.

i for example dont have any problem estimating how much head's to the sides to the sides.
i can show you how it is done with visuals, so if anyone is interested, add me.

I guess you have to find yourself how the wind effects the bullet in firing range.
