Also, I made sure at the time my distraction tool wasn't set to whistle thinking it might decide what kind of stealth animation would play but it was set to the stone option.
Melee kill are not completely stealth, sometimes they heard sounds or see something from distance and turned yellow to investigate.
Yellow mode doesn’t mean they discover you, just checking out.
