Wind indicator confuses me.
The wind indicator in SE3 was tight and positioned right at the top of the screen so it was easy to tell where to aim.

In SE4 it is stretched across the top and confuses the hell out of me, if you use it you miss.
Are you not supposed to use it like in SE3?

If one of you understand my dumbass' issue please leave a comment.

It works the same way. It's an indicator of the winds direction. If it's left of the center, you need to aim to the right. How far off you need to aim depends on distance and how far the indicator is from center. You just have to practice to get down the distances.

Do you remember SE3's indicator though? Do you see what i am trying to say?

I could practice but you were able to just use the one in SE3, not sit and figure it out for an hour.

(No salt intended btw ;) )

I think it's done on purpose. It's more of a wind strength indicator than an 'aim here' indicator. You really have to learn how to use the rifle now (as different rifles will work differently with the same wind strength).

If this is true, then it is bull$hit and shouldn't be like that.

You're funny.
No, it is true, the indicator is a measure of the strength of wind and not 'aim here" it has never been "aim here" in any Sniper Elite game. The only "Aim Here" indicator that has ever been included was the Focus system. In addition, Muzzle Velocity is what NLxAROSA is talking about. It was added in 4 and is variable for every rifle, lower muzzle velocity means longer bullet travel time meaning wind will effect the bullet more. It's how real life is, it's how they wanted to make the game, go argue with the developers if you want a less realistic game, or just put the difficulty on casual.

Funny because I want games to have meaningful indicators? Riiiiiiight. So you think it is okay, to put indicator which basically says "wind is blowing... ehm... Oh, that way! I dunno how it helps, but I don't care"?
Also, how about you go f*ck yourself with this "it's how life is". In life snipers know how fast bullet travels, they can calculate everything easily. If you think that having a line, which acts like "faster/slower" is a good indicator of how fast the bullet moves and it will help you, then you should check yourself. If devs wanted it to be accurate, they would've used NUMBERS (ever heard about this word?), which would help you navigate.
As of now authentic difficulty is between casual sniper game and sniper simulator, which makes it awful at being both.

I never played authentic in previous sniper games for the same reason, I couldn't be bothered spending hours, trying to guess (not figure out, because figuring out implies you knowing what you are doing and how you achieve the result) how the hell wind works for this game.

If you want to be a fanboy about it and defend lack of proper information, by saying that it is I who should go play at casual, then don't ever reply to me, I have no intention of talking to imbeciles who try to humiliate me, because of me pointing out legitimate problems the game (which I f*cking enjoy) has.

Keep in mind that it's a WW2 sniper sim, not a modern sniper sim. No fancy equipment, range finders, etc., just you and your binoculars and fixed scope. The indicator is actually quite helpful, it tells you where the wind is coming from and roughly how much. Definitely doesn't take 'hours' to get used to it.

And if you're really lazy: just quicksave before the shot, fire, see where the bullet goes, then quickload and try again. Not that hard or time-consuming.

If you need an 'aim here' indicator: we already have it on lower difficulties. Tells you exactly where to aim.

i mean i just turned wind off. on almost all the missions except the first one and parts of viaduct it just isn't realistic. you are usually surrounded by buildings, in a building, or in a valley of some sort. also, i shouldn't have to account for wind at all with a mosin at 100m... it's just ridiculous. 800m/s muzzle velocity and i have to account for wind, even if it is ever so slightly, at 100m? when im in a village surrounded by buildings? please. lol

While you're right, this is how a lot of games work. Since maps are not that big in terms of actual square meters, there's no way to implement mechanics like this without scaling things down quite a bit. It's either this, or no mechanics at all. Or they should implement massive maps, but that will come at a performance cost.

Yes, the wind effect and especially bullet drop is completely unrealistic and overly exaggerated. This is what the actual effect of bullet drop SHOULD be *based on the Springfield as an example with has a muzzle velocity of 2800+ ft/s (800+ m/s):

Gravity/Distance/Velocity Effect on Bullet Drop (real world)
100m = 0"
150m = 1"
200m = 3"
300m = 12"
400m = 32"
500m = 65"

Windspeed Effect on Bullet Drift (real world)
(this example; 10 mph crosswind left/right, 75% of below value if wind diagonal, ne/nw/sw/se)
100m = 1"
200m = 3"
300m = 7"
400m = 14"
500m = 22"

So in the real world, shooting a target at 300m distance with full crosswind of 10 mph to the right would hit 12" down and 7" to the right. In other words, you would still hit a person size target but it may not be in a fatal shot.

In the SE4 the bullet seems to be affected 3x those values and will miss the target by quite a bit, which can make shooting at 300m+ a bit of a crap shoot :/
