DX 12 crash at launch
I have a powerful machine with 32 gb ram i7 5930 and 2x980ti in sli. Also have new nvidia drivers. When trying to launch the game it will often crash even if i dont use the ultra settings. It works ok at medium settings. This should not be a problem and isnt with other games. Am i doing something wrong and is anyone else suffering similar issues?

I'm also receiving this issue with the same cards. I can't lauch the game at all in DX12. Have you found any fixes?
I also have the same issue. I just disable DX12 and play.

same here, with a gtx 1080, i7 6700k and 64 gb ram,
no way to start the game with dx12, if someone knows a solution for that, please let us know too.

Yup same SLI 970's. I managed to play a couple of missions with dx12 working but it freezes when I complete a mission. Trying windowed works sometimes. Seems the issue is with SLI and Dx12 which is annoying cus I get like double the fps with DX12 enabled.

That can be a simple thing like Win 10 Auto uodate , ? added latest driver , you can try this download the latest driver and may be the previous one as well to desk top, go get the DDU Tool , clean out all old drivers , i run the tool as is and not in safe mode, then do a Custom " clean " install of the new driver or the previous one

No need to "disable¹" DX12; just use the DX11 launcher. I used to have to alternate between the two launchers, but a couple of Win 10 updates ago, all I needed was the DX12.

¹ Out of curiosity: How would one go about "disabling" DX12?

But if you use the DX11 launcher, doesn't it just launch it in DX11 mode? I think the people in this thread cannot launch it in DX12 mode, thereby forcing us to play in DX11.

To disable DX12, you go to the settings in the launcher and unclick the box.

Of course using the DX11 launcher "only" launches using DX11 protocols—quod erat demonstrandum. And I'm afraid you misapprehend the nature of disabling. Unchecking the box in the launcher doesn't disable DX12, it simply prevents this game from DX12 launch; DX12 is still very much enabled for other games to use…which was why I asked in the first place about "disabling" DX12. Your solution isn't disabling DX12; it's only leaving DX11 as default launch—not the same thing at all.

But, I think we're getting away from the real issue, here: being able to launch Sniper Elite 4 with DX12. Evidence pretty strongly suggests that certain hardware drivers are the real culprit, that it's not a "bug" in the game—it's a manufacturer issue, not a developer issue.

Developers cannot realistically be expected to troubleshoot the drivers of ALL the video cards on the market before publication. That's not their job. What they can be expected to do is to test their product on the most popularly-used hardware. The guys that don't do that are the ones I "have a problem" with. It's called due dilligence.

There are SO many GPUs out there, and frankly, too many users expecting too much out of the "bargain" cards they have, or too many users making purchasing decisions based on the wrong criteria.

I have a mid-range rig in terms of price and technology. It cost me $1,600, but the guys I had build it for me really know what they are doing. As a result, I don't have these problems very often, but I like to keep my ear to the ground because crap happens, and I'd like to know what to do when the SHTF.

The DX12/DX11 dilemma isn't game-based—it's hardware-based (allowing that hardware DRIVERS are part of the hardware problem). Rebellion seems to be willing to listen to valid complaints.
