Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim

Game Length?
Anyone play this one yet? The Ys games I've played (thankfully) have been a modest length, unlike some RPGs that take hundreds of hours to complete. My schedule doesn't always allow for me to fully enjoy a 60 hour game. Anyone familiar with this title and how long it takes to complete?

I couldn't find anything online. Thanks.

5 to 10 hours on your 1st run

I think it took me 12-14 hours on the PS2 version. But I did -everything.-

It depends... I spend a lot of time in Ys games because I always play in hard or super hard mode... It's meant to be this way ! And trust me you will die a lot if you don't know what you're doing :p

One of the best pieces of news I heard all day. Now, if I could just pre-purchase it still.

There is always Good Old Games. They still have it up for Pre-Order, last I checked.

I do remember this game being rather short, but I haven't played it since around the time it came out in Japan. That said, it was definitely a lot of fun!

If don't plan to replay it or do the boss rush, yes it can be short... But like I said, Ys games are very replayable (I could listen to the ost forever)

It's about the same length as Felghana and Origin. So maybe it will take around 8 hours for your first try if you're playing it straightforwardly.

The length really depends on what difficulty you play on, your overall skill at this sort of game and whether or not you end up getting lost. This game was a bit less straightforward about what to do and where to go than Oath in Felghana and there are a couple of points where you pretty much have to poke around and hope you find something, but nothing too bad since there's only so much to explore on a set of three smallish islands.

It also depends on how much you go talking to characters because I do remember I enjoyed talking to the characters in both towns because the towns actually have a reasonably interesting culture to them. If you really take your time and try and enjoy the game and explore everything and talk to everyone it's easy to take over 20 hours, but it's definitely not an epic long RPG.

And I agree with the comment about being able to listen to the OST forever. Ark of Napishtim has a really good soundtrack and the boss battles are really fun. MIghty Obstacle is one of the better regular boss themes. This game was the one that definitely got me totally addicted to the series even if it wasn't my first Ys game (my first was SNES Ys 3).

I have been playing Ys games since I had Ys III for SNES back in the day. One of my favorite things about them is their length, which are always perfect.

I am really looking forward to finally playing Ys VI (I had the PSP version, but that was unplayable, and I could never find the PS2 version). Especially since I just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, which wrecked my life in terms of time. ♥♥♥♥ got so exhausting, hahaha. Gonna be so nice to play a smaller JRPG after that.
