fun with just 2 players?
Or is it best enjoyed as a 4 player game? Looking for something to play with the gf (who does not have much experience with games)

Personally I've played with all sorts of players, and it's fun no matter what.

It's more fun with four players, but still a blast with two.

4 Players, more chaos.

3/4 players leave a bit more room for less skilled players to partake more in the game. It's easier to get "random" wins (kingmaking and politics) and even if you don't get a win you can at least get a kill or two every now and then. 1v1 ends up being more skill based and even more competitive, but it's still a blast.

It's a double-edged sword, really.
It can be to their advantage at times, but it's hard to win when you're getting teamed by two players at once.

Obviously, but it's not rare for two players to kill eachother. With three players it's not rare to get a win or two even if you're AFK. Which is encouraging for new players and make things a bit more light-hearted. Especially since it removes that heart-crushing moment in the intermission when your duck picks up your rock and... drops it in the same place.

It can be fun with just two players but in my experience one player tends to dominate due either to skill or just plain good luck.

A lot of the fun of Duck Game stems from how chaotic it gets when four people are going for a win. When you limit it to two players, it becomes more of a binary experience where one player just has all the luck and the other feels cheated.

It's alot more fun with 3/4 players, but you can combine local mp with the online mp.. So you could still play with your gf and have 2 online players join your game :)

If the problem arises consistently you may wanna check and post in the thread called "FPS problemo" in the technical support forum where someone reported a similar sounding issue.

4 people is better it creates more fun, chaos and more competitve matches due to the amount of stuff you ll need to take into account. 1v1s get dull very fast in my opinion mostly because 1 player whipes the floor with the other or for example the amount of camping gets too high because you ll learn each others playstyle very quickly. I would say 3-4 is the best. Not only because of the skill but also because most maps r balanced around 4 players. This is even more true with the objective focused maps(key maps)

I have a friend who I go the gym with, and we always play Duck Game when we get back to my flat afterwards. Because we more or less only play when we play together (no internet at the moment), we develop strategies and learn little tricks at the same rate. We have a third player sometimes but he's awful at the game and he's not as much a night owl as we are. The game is amazing every time, I've never been bored of it.
