It is absolutely littered with worms. I don't know why you ever thought to look for them in chimney canopy. Never knew that region had any. (looks like just one room with only two of them? no surprise any respawns may always get snatched by a predator before you arrive)
The reverse approach through chimney canopy and then just the wall of the exterior doesn't require grapple worms at all. They are really only necessary for the underhang part, which you would be skipping coming from that direction.
