But while the kinda messy fighting system of Ryza could be saved by a working alchemy (some would say too simple but hey, it was still alchemy), here the whole synthesis thing feels just off. It's like completely shifting away from what is an Atelier game, a game that want you to spend time in your Atelier.
I know they're always trying different stuff, but when both the fighting and the craft parts are meh you're left with nothing that interesting.
Yumia might be OK, still tinkering.
But ultimately these sad panda threads are overdone.
perhaps if they didn't use "Atelier" on the title it can be a great spin off game
No, the game was hugely popular because of its gameplay. Its story and characters arent exactly top-tier especially amongst games of its genre.
In fact its character designs and also the personalities of the characters are 'woke' designs. An ugly yandere woman, three hot men, an aggressive tsuntsun alien woman, an ugly demon (from a race that only has hot women and men ). Oh and 2 good looking women but they are both evil and you can't use them as companies in a reasonable playthrough.
Maybe instead of 'woke' I should say they are basically design choices made by western Fujoshi.
That didnt stop people from considering BG3 a great game, showing how little they cared about the characters.
