How do you kill people silently?????
kinda silly
Stupid is what that is.
It's also incredibly stupid that you can get into a fire fight with, like, ten guys, and that one minute after the fight, not only do their bodies all vanish, but everyone just stands down, and goes back to business as though nothing happened.
Also, it seems that all the guards respawn - not too sure about that, but it seems like it.
This is a VERY strange game.
(I play using a controller on PC, so I don't know keyboard controls.)
1. "I shoot a guy with my tranquilizer gun, and two minutes later he wakes up. So I shoot him again, but can't figure out how to kill him silently, using my hands."
You must aim for the head.. also they're probably being woken up from a Guard because the tranquilizer gun lasts much longer than two minutes, the only 'stun affects' that don't last long is when you beat em.
2. "So I decide, finally, to shoot him with my silenced rifle. What happens - the noise alerts the other guards, who come running in from all points of the compass. These guards weren't even in sight when I shot the guy. "
Probably heard the body land on the ground or the gun, you can't kill near Guards, It WILL alert them and they can also find dead bodies if left in the open, so hide them depending on the mission.
3. "Also, it seems that all the guards re-spawn - not too sure about that, but it seems like it."
If you alert the Guards, they will request for back-up. That's why it's also best to stay out of site and NOT kill anyone. It'll affect your score and time.
I suggest you look at the control in the options and keep playing, you'll get better. I was completely lost when I started playing the game like a month or two ago, now I've got it at 100% and I'm playing The Phantom Pain. Don't give up, keep trying.
Get lost.
Okay, thanks.
I didn't mean to imply the game is bad, just that it seems strange you can't easily kill a person silently.
It seems the game really does want you to keep moving, rather than going slow, and clearing the level as you go.
I bought the main game for a whopping $74 Canadian, though I haven't started to play it yet. God I hope it'll be good because I haven't spent that much money on a game in years.
You can easily kill a person silently, if you can aim with a silenced weapon.
1) Rifle is silenced by default, but the silencer can wear out - making it loud. The silencer can also be removed so you can save it for later (obviously making the gun loud). The flashlight is also on by default - this will attract attention. Turn it off.
2) If you shoot someone anywhere other than the head, you're wrong. And there will be consequences.
3) If you desire to kill someone after you have grabbed them, there will be a skull icon with a representative button attached. Press the button and you will slit their throat. This is quiet enough you can do it right behind another guard and they will not be alerted. Tapping the same button you used to grab them in the first place is a very quiet way of knocking them out for a short ammount of time.
4) Bullets fired from a silenced weapon do not make noise in the game... but the bullets impacting objects do make noise. You can shoot right into the sky behind an enemy and no one will hear you. If you shoot someone in the head and his buddy is right next to him, you'll have a bad time. Like every other stealth game ever released, the challenge is in isolating enemies to take them out, or avoiding them all together.
5) The impact of tranq darts is quieter than that of bullets -- you can shoot an enemy in the head and have his friend often not hear it even if he is close. If you shoot right next to an enemey's head and miss, they can still hear the wizz of the projectile though.
6) There are only 3 silenced weapons in the game -- the SMG (must be found or unlocked), the default rifle and the tranq gun. If you pick up another weapon, it will be loud. And unless you take very special precautions (such as clearing an area around a chosen sniper's nest before setting up a firing position with a scoped rifle), shooting a loud weapon is wrong.
7) The sneaking suit you wear in the game dampens all footstep noise so long as you are crouched or crawling (get ready for a surprise though when you play Phantom Pain and wear a different outfit). Use speed to your advantage.
8) You start with thermal NVGs by default in every mission. They are invaluable in locating enemies in the dark/ rain.
9) Each weapon has a particular effective range. Put the crosshairs on an enemy, and if they turn orange, they are in range and the bullet will go exactly where you are aiming. If you aim and the crosshairs are white? They are out of range, and your point of impact will be lower than your point of aim (due to gravity affecting the round).
10) The true goal of the game? The way it wants you to play? Get in, acomplish the objective very quickly, and leave everyone completely untouched. If you can't find a solution to a particular "puzzle" (each encounter is a puzzle to be solved), use a tranq dart to put an enemy to sleep so you can easily pass. If you have a particularly difficult spot, a silenced firearm can be used to make things even easier... but this is really a last resort. If you get spotted and there is a firefight, it is the game's way of saying you either don't understand the mechanics, or are playing recklessly. Of course, it punishes you for this.
