hi im playing as a pirate but how do i know if i can get access to rank 5 ships, i have the dlc hercules ship is rank 5 but i also brought the trincomlee ships an says i need a higher rank, im at rogue level

does it say you need a higher rank? what rank are you? you play, you gain xp, you gain rank and bigger crew, you access bigger ships. you can own any ships but have to work at being able to use them.

im a rogue but can use the hercules rank 5 ship but the trincomlee id rank 5 as well

higher rank equals higher crew level keep hitting at to get to the next rank and crew level.

The herc is at low end of 5th rates, Trinc is at high end of 5th rate. you can sail hips under crewd. but it does affect reload, sails and boarding.

The rank in crew is usually mentioned here. However, you get more skill points the more XP you make. The unique advantages of the perks are also important. I'll say getting gunnery, surviver, sailing, boarding to level 5 also makes a lot of things easier :)
It's not an easy game and it never will be. Unfortunately, it's a game that can be addictive if you get caught up in it
