Why does this game need maintenance every day?

The hell are you guys doing in that time, what can possibly require 90 minutes of maintaince every single day. That's almost 550 Hours per year I can't play the game.

I've never seen the daily maintenance take more than an hour, I've been playing for 5 years. Lately, it's been 35-45 min usually.

Is maintenance the same time every day?
I just got the game, tried last night only to find a login queue to a low pop server. Trying again before work today server maintenance. If it is the same time, that knocks out every pre work morning for me.

Yes it is every day!
But usually 45mins to one hour maintenance.

Every online multiplayer game requires server maintenance time to keep servers healthy, for example Eve online requires daily maintenance time. Naval Action is no exception. The warning about server maintenance is sent in advance every day to all players on servers.

In general it is about an hour, in patch days it may take a bit longer

Guild Wars 2 is the only online game I can think of that doesn't require any maintenance at all. That's pretty cool.

oh it does, they just restart afew servers at a time so not to interrupt game play..
