How to earn, N.aval S.ervice M.edals
open your journal and go to seasons, it shows you the 4 ways to earn NSM ( things u need to make most buildings except tobacco and sugar farms) .

First 3 you can solo... and are redeemed every 2 weeks!!!
15 pts required to earn the minimum 3 Naval Service Medals.

1, Earn medals in the Player Zone ( the circle arena on the map)
Every combat medal earned = 1 pt.

2, Do combat missions ( kill mission, search and destroy mission and hunt mission)
Every star earned = 1 pt.

3, Build a shipyard and grind out ships
The more harder of the 3 to earn but there you go!

4, The last way to earn is, to capture ports inside Bahamas or Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republique)

Now ignore the haters and try to have fun with this very demanding and very hardcore age of sail simulator!

How much devs pay you , why do you wanna ruin the game in general with every of your post.

Yes core gamechanics are nice, grinding it is fine. They promote game a king, but do nothing for gameplay itself.

Game needs more people, this means all player need to be in one server.
It is first f2p game with that quaility that goes empty.
Game needs better UI, party system, more pve content, REALS reward after battle, becouse it is game and it is not fun to destroy ship and get nothing.

Game it is nice and thats why we are still here, but most of the changes devs to drives people away instead of pulling more new players, but game could easy reach 2-3k players in few weeks.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

money is king in Naval Action. Tobacco farms, capturing and selling large warships, buying low and selling high and of course uber are key to success.

1. Done that 3x's and no BSM's awarded...!

2. Done that mutiple times and still no NSM...

3. Can't grind out ships without being to get basic mats from all my buildings now...!

4. War Server is "DEAD" port battles are few and between now...!

I was so excited to open a coal mine this week. I grinded for hours and hours, adding up to whole days of the last 2 weeks. Then I realized "oh, a coal mine costs 5 NSM," and I only got a whole 3 for my efforts. I will continue dutifully grinding missions though and by the end of the first month I will be able to invest in coal mining.

So arbitrarily having to wait a month just to open one resource mine, eh, there's gotta be a better way. I want to be able to build my own hull repairs. Oak log is at least plentiful enough that I can probably get by with having to find a port with some for sale. I would happily buy a few NSM for 500,000 R but alas, they cannot be traded. But at this point it makes more sense to grind AI fleets for hull repairs than to try to build them myself.

Even though I've sunk [an embarrassing amount] of hours into this game since the reset, I apparently cannot compete with other players enough in grinding for NSM to make it above anything but 'honorable mention' on the leaderboards. There are times when I think, "I really need to get a life." Then I look at my name ranked #436 on the leaderboard and it really puts things in perspective.

Or I can wait in line for the dozen contracts on coal at one of the "available" ports, and then hopefully make it back to the port where my workshop is. Or I could sit outside a coal port during the darkest hours of the night when server pop is low and everyone does their resource runs, and wait for someone to come collect, and try to sink them and take their coal.

I am not sure that this Navy Service Medals are the best addition to Naval Action.
Only people who have a lot of time to spend in the game can hope to grind these.
Grinding these is more a metter of time in game than a matter of skill in game.
:(

And it actually favor ppl with many alts. if you have one 1 account, do 30 stars you get 4 NSM. If you do 2 accounts and do 15 stars on each you get 6 NSM. My guess is they want to boost numbers of F2P accounts made.
Drewsko Jan 18, 2023 @ 8:27am
every 2 weeks u can earn 6 medals easy enough if you are a decent player and can 1v1 an ai of your same rank and can join a clan (of just have 1 buddy) who does the pz. 15 pts in quests/missions = 15 1v1's. 15 combat medals = the min 3 nsm's.

Each 1v1 takes 30 min average so.... 15 days x 30 min = 7.5 hours. The patrol zone would take about equal time depending on luck, so 14-15 hours every two weeks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most casual players who enjoy a game can play said game 7 hours a week?
If you can't then focus on doing just 1 thing (combat quests or player patrol zone)and earn 3 medals every 2 weeks.
Half way thru a season you will have enough medals to build most of everything you need to craft reps and ships without needing to spend time searching in random ports for needed supplies.
Eventually it snowballs into making 9 medals every two weeks with a ship yard and enough income (tobaco farms etc).
Well my math for sure is not the same as yours. If i do 3 NSM I will have 9 half way tru the season. That make it possioble to make 3 of the 8 basic ressources you need to craft ships. You will actually not even have enough to make a coal and iron, so you can produce your own cannons.
To get all basic ressources to make ships you need 5*3 and and 3*5. So if you make only 3 NSM each 2 weeks, well you need 10 mini seasons. there is 6 in a season. Next you need to upgrade your ship yard. that is 80 points at max. so 80/3= 26 mini seasons.
true, not 100% but in whatever area you are in, there are SOME resources available you can scrounge up. The rest can be helped via NSM's.
Regardles,, building ships takes alot of money, you will need to save up for some time before you can start building ships..
unless you belong to a major clan....
I suggest you join england if you want an easier time of it all.
Actually I am one of the vets that have played for a very long time. So over the years I have bought extra accounts, and dlc's., to support the game. Never in all the time I played NA have alts been more powerful then now. But being a new player, oh my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good.
The game has never been harder for new playes, then it is now. Compared to vets they are really screwed.
Drewsko Jan 19, 2023 @ 9:46am
your comment has nothing to do with NSM but ty for sharing your personal opinion. IMO england currently has the highest alt count so if you want an easier time of the game, pls join them.
Staunberg Jan 19, 2023 @ 10:31am
ofc it has everything to do with getting NSM, but also the ability to earn them.
If I do 30 stars for quest mission I get 4 NSM, if do it on two accounts I get 6. So my opinion about alts make it easier to earn NSM is valid. The next is the pz. Same issue. Devs reward ppl for making more accounts.
When it comes to crafting, vets with alts all have both the Trinc and the Pandora. So sell them to the game and you get around 40 k just for logging and click click. That is delc they even haven't paid for. I personally get around 1.5 kk for selling dlc ships. take me around 5 min. So how easy do you think I can craft and get 3 nsm. Game have never been more focus on getting ppl to maker accounts and buy dlc to get NSM.
No doubt this game really turned P2W to get NSM.
I regard to have an easy life. how the is now, it really don't matter what nation you are in.
