New to game and need info on kill missions

I was finnaly able to join the PvE server . After choosing a nation , the first thing I saw , I had to join a battle . No tutorial or anything . But thanks to my experience in Age of Pirates 1 and 2 , I managed to get this done in the second attempt .
Afterwards , I was in the open sea , alone . In a much much smaller ship . Following the guide , I followed the white thing on the map to the start town . Turned out , I followed the Wrong white thing , and ended up at the wrong island . Lol
Turned the ship around , and got to the right island . And the right town . Somehow , I managed to get the rewards for the battle . Then the guide said something about a tutorial , which I didn´t find . But I did find a kill mission .
Took that , sailed to the area , found a ship "roughly" the same size as my small ship , and I lost . Fair enough . In town I got a new ship . This time I found the tutorials . Had some problems during those , but they were solved in the second attempt .
Then I sailed out to the mission area again , found another ship "roughly" the same size as my own . After I won , it turned out it was a class 6 ship .
So . Back to town , repair , and out again . I have been laying out there with no sails up , looking around , even using the spy glass looking around , from right in the middle of the mission area , and I see NO battles going on (as the mission describes there would be) , therefor there is nothing to join . And so far , I am guessing that the only class 7 ship , is the one I am sailing around in . And here I have some problems . I see NO class 7 ships out there . No battles to join .

Just how do I complete a kill missions , if what I do is wrong ?
I am at a loss here .

Hello Sailor, please dont give up, the game is very rewarding. Best way for a beginner is to ask in Nation chat for help, maybe it is a good idea to join a clan as soon as possible..ask for a beginner friendly clan in nation chat!

You mean you sailed to where the battle would be and there were no crossed swords? Because mission battles don't start as actual Open World battles until you, the person who has the quest, initiates it by finding the crossed swords and clicking "start battle"

Try and use the sextant and the map, check that the water line of your ship is just at the sword crossing. Sometimes, by foggy weather, missions cannot be seen that far.

For a fast rank up and a Class 5 Ship you can do the Final Exam in the Tutorials. Its the fastest way to get into the Game.

Just tried again today . Same result . Quest says "join the battle at the marked area" , and when I get there , there is no battle . No class 7 ships sailed that way .

You all have fun with your misleading quest descriptions , I will find other waters to sail .

There are crossed swords marking a battle. Click on them then you get a window saying "join".
It's the same as engaging an enemy in AoP 1/2, with a small window and a loading screen.

nothing misleading about the quest descriptions to just sail to where it marked on the map and you will see the crossed swords.. click on it then click join and you enter the mission. If there is nothing there is possible its bugged or something have never seen that myself.. just cancel the mission and pick up a new one.

There are also numerous different rank 7 ships.
