Revision 05 is being written-up:

This revision shall include:
  • Update Ship Table in §4.
  • Update §4.6.1 (wood characteristics)
  • Addition of §4.7 Gunnery, to provide details about different types of armament.
  • Changes in §5.2.2 - Tavern (chats)
  • New Player start (first battle when creating a new account)
  • More details in §9 about how to win battle, in particular the changes made by Seasonal Patch: The Missing Links Part 1 (Battle Sails, wind shadow, Sail setting vs Sail furling, changes in gunnery characteristics).

This redaction should take some time for write-up and check. It should be issued end of September.

Great Manual. Now I play on a PVE server and what I miss is a basic list of how to initiate and start a Port battle. The info in the manual is spread out and it's clearly pointed to PVP. Different ballgame right. All the info I find by google and other search methods points me to ton and tons of outdated material. So if someone or you have the info on how it works in the PVE today would be much appreciated. Maybe also point out the difference between the PVE and PVP. Clearly the PVE never involves meeting any player in battle but the mechanic's to start the PB and all that is rather confusing reading the different sections of the manual. Flag statement in paragraph 8 is contradicted in paragraph 9 bt saying the clan who built up the hostility get's the ownership... like I say i might be thick but I can't get my head around the PB thing. Our Clan need a port but I can't figure out how to get it.
Sincerely M

Thanks for the remarks. I'll check and correct contradictions in §8 and §9.
I'll try to include more mechanics about Peace Server, but I am basically playing on War Server, and
I would need help by Peace Server Players, having experience on Port Battle Management
(description of particular mechanics for Port Battles in the Peace Server).

I could not issue Revision 05 on the initially scheduled date, for some IRL reasons.
Write up is still ongoing.

Hi Aquillas. Thanks again for your guide. It's extremely helpful. Being that it's probably the most comprehensive out there, it may be of interest to you to add some brief mention somewhere about letting your fleet escape before escaping a battle yourself. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/311310/discussions/22/3165461747771337074/)
It's possible it's in there but missed it, too. I haven't seen this discussed in other guides or videos yet, or just missed it.

@Yaramir,
Y'll find the answers where you posted your questions.
The best place to put remarks is this forum, because the former forum by Game-Labs is now very limited. The main place is in this forum now.

The mention to let fleet escape before leaving a battle will be added in next revision, because the document was updated before I read this. Sorry for inconvenience...

I'm sorry to see you leave, just got back a month ago, played it with the paperships we had then just to get back in the saddle.
Your guide has been a trmedeous help for a lot of people inkluding myself. About the green zones I belive they are needed just because some people just cant behave themself and jump on every ship they can with their overpowered fleet. But I agree they should be smaller and so many are wanting it so we will see, as the patch just hit and I joined the caribiean server just 2 days before patch. Have one on war server, rarely played as i was ganked by a squad a cpl of weeks ago with only 30 people logged in. What are the chances. Also have one on peace server.
Anyway on the caribbian server i joined a big clan and as it is now, I have not heard of any ganking of newbs. There is a lot of pvp going on all over map.
So see the real pvp server live up again might not happen due to to long since it was playable.
Thx for you effort and keeping the "Manual" alive

Your Guide is still the most comprehensive out there. Would't it be a good thing to put it under the Guides tab?
Still understand you decission to not update, i'm confident the war server will get rith of the SZ or at least minimized. The change is in the gray zone of leagal since it changed the game in the PVP server to something it never should be, not the first time, but my guess there will be a sue towards them for the War server and they will need to seperate their "upgrades" between the servers and not just copy paste. Also hope to see a DLC so people vcan join both the War and Peace servers. Will give new blood to the servers and no wipes.

The Naval Action User Guide was not updated since 2023, because Author had first to recover from some Surgery. But the forthcoming Naval Action Reborn Patch gives opportunity to resume redaction.

An "Open" revision is available. Open means Work In Progress... ;)
Direct link to the document is given on the 1st message in this topic.

This revision will be regularly re-issued, when some relevant text is written-up.

Obviously, a lot of content still needs to be reviewed, edited, updated or deleted, but doing that way, Players can get, as far as possible, updated information.

Updated chapters include:

- Changes in servers
- Ship Table andGun characteristics
- Tutorials and Exams
- How to start in Naval Action? [Presently being rewriten]
- DLC List
- Changes in Nations, ranks and promotions.
- Boarding mechanics modifications
- …/…

Modifications are highlighted in the document by revision bars in left margin.

This message will be regularly edited, at changes on the "Open" version.

Enjoy!
