Remove Ammo and Powder.
I've played this game for years, I take breaks and always come back.
I've bought ships, other DLCs and supported the game when possible.

For the love of all that is holy, Remove this insane need for cannonballs and powder.
The entire grind to be able to get a ship and fit it out is hard enough. Losing a ship after the grind is an absolute crushing reset for most new players that somehow got through it all and made one mess up.

This is coming from someone that has 5+ DLC ships.
This game is already realistic, but we don't need it to be mind-crushingly realistic to the point of painful micromanagement.
Make this game Naval ACTION.
Make it about combat with trading and construction as a secondary portion for players.

They should keep it, does need a reduction or modification though.

You should be able to crew and cannon a basic cutter or lynx for free, to start capping ships, or many players aren't going to waste the time and effort!

It's crazy it's like they make you have to grind just to fight a basic battle that a new player may lose anyway...

Where's the encouragement to continue at this point?

Plus, even if you win, there is a chance you are at a net loss anyway having to replenish what you used

It's hard to be in net loss given how much doubs NPCs drop now. 1800 doubs from 4 6th rank trash. Plus upgrades. That's about 50-60k of net income.

So, instead of improving the same tired old game with new content (other than paid DLC ships) they wipe and further gimp you! Stranding you in a shallow water port and force you to spend hours trading for reals to buy balls and gunpowder.... No to mention the costs of buying the expensive cannons alone!

Then they take away the free Basic Cutter which at least gives you practice and gets you started...

Why keep gimping the loyal player base rather than adding meaningful content to encourage continued sales and play...?

Because they have a new single player version that's listed as coming soon on Steam. They're trying to milk The Galleon for extra funds while changing previous shallow draft ships to deep water in the hopes more people will buy it. I can only presume that they're hoping that they piss people off enough they leave and buy the new single player version without looking at who the developers are

1-3 delivery missions is enough to outfit the lynx. There'e the final exam.
Most are boarding ships and not even shooting.
Do deliveries and set up to make your own shot and powder, suddenly its not an issue, and you have a passive income now if you want to sell.

It needs fixing and looking at, but not the end of the world if you put a little effort in

This doesn't help recruit or keep new players who just want to jump right in for an hour and sink/battle ships...

Eventually it will be two or three super Clans controlling all the trading and ports just like last time!

Without a constant influx of new players who get hooked into the immediate fun of age of sail cannon battles this game will soon be dead again!

ok , but how do you make the first workshop? i have an outpost in a neutral port. I have money but everything is greyed out or not an option. I am on the correct page but the build button is greyed out and there is no list of buildings that should be there
As we said in game, we think it might be you are too low level, try leveling up once more

Disagree. Keep shot and powder and everything else they've done, add more, refine, do improvements, tweaks, whatever. The in game economy is starting to emerge, shot, powder, ships are all being produced by players and none of it is insanely expensive. A new player can jump in, grind missions for 2-3 hours and then afford to buy a small ship, guns and powder. Starting off this way also lets new players have a look around and get used to the map. I was a big skeptic at first but that has changed over the last few days.

They need to throw back in the Basic Cutter, for free, with cannons and unlimited ammo as they had before just to get new players into the game and allow a new player to get to combat immediately...

If not this game is DEAD!
