Naval Action

Renomme
After trying out the "exceptional" version that the devs bestowed upon us , here's my two cents on the Renomme.

It's a downgrade from the 6th class ships , plain and simple really.
The only thing it's exceptional at , is being way too long/high in the water to compete with ships of the same cailber , or even a lower caliber.

I know what you guys are thinking , Oh hey downs man, no way bro, you're just using it wrong.

naw man,i'm not haha,I'm a pretty good pilot , 90% of the time im using single shots as opposed to full broadsides , and i always turn manually as opposed to letting the auto skipper turn for me.
Im an accurate shot, and a pretty damn good cappin' if i say so myself.

But in comparison to say the three power houses in the 6th tier (snow , mercury , navy brig )
The price comparison and crew capacity makes the reno a really poor choice.

When you go from tier to tier , each ship should be a step up in most regards , obviously speed / manuveralbility will go down as you get into bigger ships , thats to be expected , and i did expect that.

What i didn't expect is that the only plus side to being in a reno , is.............yeah there isn't one.
The armor bonus doesnt even feel like it's there because your ship is so long No one can miss.
Im really dissapointed in the reno , and i hope the devs show it some love soon , as for me , im selling mine right now , holla at me on PVP 2 if you want this POS for cheap.

Later nerds :).

Did you know you can strip the armor of a brig with a grape shot...?

Yeah. Nasty.

Are you nuts?!? You NEED full broadsides to destroy opposing ships hull and giving the crew reload shock.

Was it "pilot" or "using single shots" that ruined his credibility for you?

Maybe i failed to mention that i keep massive range from my targets , but you guys are foaming at the mouth over the single shot thing , here's a secret , if you focus every shot from your array of cannons on one side of the enemy ship , regardless of using broadside or not , they will sink 100% of the time.
you cannot bail fast enough not to sink if you lose 100% of any one side armor.

Enjoy being better at the game :) yw.

I think they were foaming at the mouth over your "naw man"s and calling yourself a pilot. And "holla", too. "Cappin'"? Capping what?

Basically they're laughing at your Americanisms and slang.

Renomme is not a slugger, she's an interceptor. ;)

She's designed to be fast to chase down smaller vessels, or to grab hold of larger vessels so her larger, heavier friends can come beat on them.

She's also not too shabby for solo raiding in hostile waters. It's nice being able to run like hell as well as being able to catch stuff.

yeah ai've been experimenting with it , just figured this out , thanks for the reply tripty.
i was just using the ship for a purpose it wasnt designed for.

No worries! Quite a few of the ships have unique uses or roles, it's not too terribly hard to find one that will fit your playstyle and happy place. :)

Yes, indeed!

This game is not about getting the best ship. Its about getting the ship fitting your purpose the best. The basic cutter might sound useless, but I find it extremely useful for sailing against the wind, thanks to the side sails (know my native language, but doesn't know the english version of these sails). I prefer the cutter above the privateer, despite the privateer having a bigger crew and stronger hull.

kind of confused about that.

The word you are looking for is "jib" for the forward two sails forward of the mast, and "staysail" for the third of those forward sails. :)

She apparently didn't ship them in real life. While she plays the role of a fast interceptor - mainly due to her speed (Trincomalee often plays this role as well), the Developers will generally not add cannon where no cannon were to be found. In some cases, a cannon from the broadside could be shifted to act as a chaser, maybe we'll see that ability at a later phase of the game.
