Having said that, i hope there will be Xebec's in the game and much more diverse ships that excel at certain roles more specific and fail completely at others rather than punishing people so the higher ranks have cannonfodder.
Playing the Cutter is just run up, and blast them with your cannonade. That's is, that's all you do, for several hours before you can access your other ships which actuelly allows for some sort of "real" naval combat.
You will always run up and blast a enemy away, this is not limited to the cutter. "Real" naval combat will only be PvP with bigger Fleets and you can do the same with cutters, it just looks better with a bigger ship. This game is not a "standart" MMO where you try to level up as fast as possible and than start progression. This is a sandbox game. If you dont have fun at sailing and blasting stuff out of the water this is the wrong game for you. Sure some thinks are easier with bigger ships but it dosnt change the system
Yeah some idiot complained earlier saying he spent 30 minutes firing cannons , erm yeah its a naval combat game
Let me get this straight. You want the progression to be slowed down so that it will take longer for OTHER people to get to your level? That's really stupid.
The progression is already slow as hell. The grind with the Cutter is insane. There's no sense of progression whatsoever.
This would also work, finding who to implement the smaller ships at later stage game would be a good idea.
Not at all. im almost 1st Lt and that was only in 1 & 1/2 days, also im sure there are plenty of ppl that got alot higher. im currently sailing a snow and wish that i was still 'only' able to sail rank 7 ships. For me being able to go from rank 7 to rank 5+ in a couple days for me is too fast as the smaller ships get forgotten about. Thats all there is to it.
Thats what i mean, i could prob be able to hit the high rank ships within a week. Thats too fast in my eyes.
Crew Exp(next rang)
40 1000
60 1000
120 2500
150 5000
200 10000
250 20000
350 50000
650 75000
800 100000
1100 max
Thanks, it's also interesting to know how much xp you will gain at higher ranks. Because higher ranked missions seem to give more xp which also counts for battles. When I needed 1000 xp to level up, I would make roughly 100 xp for one battle/mission. When I needed to get 2500 xp, I could make up to 300 xp per mission/battle. So basically, if it stays like that, for example if I could make 500 or more xp per battle/mission when I need 10000 xp then it doesn't really take longer to gain that rank than any other rank.
Depends on how much time your playing, if your on for hours a day then yes you will " level' up faster. But for those who get 2 hours or less a day it's a lot harder.
They have to consider the amount of time the average game player has to spend on the game daily to determine XP requirements to advance.
They have also stated they plan to add more ranks and possibly lower level ships to spread out the variety.
