How do Buildings Work
Hi All,

I bought an live oak forest "building" and have 18/100 units in storage but i can not seem to find them on another screen.

How do they interact with the economy?

Can i load them on ships?

Etc.?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

goto craft/resources...you will find your inventory there

You can build a building in any outpost you own.

It can generate any resources that Port Can generate.

It will generate X resources a day, increasing the level of the building increases both the number it generates and its storage capacity.

Having multiple of the same building will generate an efficiency bonus.

When you want to 'collect' your resources, go to your output, select the Craft option, go to the Resources tab, then click on the box that says 260 out of 300 of Silver or whatever, then choose on the slider how many resources you want.

You will then PAY the base cost of that resource at that port (say 40g per tonne of Silver) and then spend CRAFTING HOURS to collect the resources (based on efficiency).

The items will then go into your warehouse, make sure you move them to your ship.

So the building does two things :
1) Guarantees you access to a particular resource (lets say Live Oak for ship building)
2) Provides you with a trade opportunity, if for example you harvest silver for 40g per tonne and it sells in your capital by contract (or to NPC) for a better price.

Thanks guys, i did find it not too long after starting the thread. Jeheli thanks for your tips as they go beyond just me finding the resource tab.

I do like the economic side of the game.

I am still getting my head around contracts and manufacturing level 2, if you will, goods from the raw materials.

I only have just the one building so plenty more work to do :-)

Also to mention, Captain - you can have five buildings, not more

Thanks, I did notice that when I built a building in my second port. I had thought it was going to be 5 building per port. (

Otherwise it'd ruin the game economy/crafting

Oookay. Be careful here, crafters. To pull ore out of the ground, or to cut down oak costs labor hours. You WILL level your crafting slower doing this.

Having said this, I have a big ol' silver mine..'cause I need silver for my mid-grade notes, to build my Trincs. I will probably sell that, and build a gold mine, to make the stuff for my Connies.

When this game fully transitions to a player based economy, there will be difficult choices to make as to what, if any, production facilities you want.

For my five, I have a shipyard (naturally), an oak farm, iron ore mine, hemp factory, and silver mine.

I still need to purchase a f*ckton of coal, lignum, pine, fir, and blocks..but they're relatively cheap, and more importantly, relatively available. It sucks hard to not be able to finish a ship because you just cannot find the resources you need...especially for the mid and high grade notes, or for the knees and furnishings you need for the higher level ships.

Thanks for the tips Swiss.

i am sorry i do not understand your sentence "You WILL level your crafting slowing doing this" do you mean you will use up labor hours doing entry level work, meaning not efficient use of the labor hours. let me know thanks
