can't demast enemy ships?
No matter how many hits to the mast, no matter what ammunition used, I can't seem to demast an enemy ship. Is this a bug?

No its not. Try directly from bow or stern, use balls, aim at yard/lower part of mast, be close to it (100-250m). hth

Tried that, still does not work

not easy, for sure. What you should also use, are aiming-shots with spacebar. gl

That is what I have been doing. I have never demasted an enemy ship outside the tutorials.

after installing long guns (9 pounders), I was able to demast an enemy ship.

cheers, some upgrades or books may even improve that

I mostly demast by raking with longs simple cannon ball. But yeah demastimg is very hard now even with double charge.
