go to macdonalds and get a big mac meal with a shake.
Youlld get more enjoyment.
The price is low now.
The recommended DLC's depend on your choices, but Admiralty Connection adds you a lot of room in dock and 5 more buildings.
For ships... Really depends on your game preferences. Redoutable seem to be one of the favorites for most players.
When you just start an account, Hercules is cool, and can be sailed at a rather low rank before grinding up.
Admin objected to some of his more egregious examples of upside down implementation of the historical data into the model being described as "arbitrary" before declaring that they were chosen to match his vision of how they needed to be for gameplay, and how that was more important than historicity. To my mind, the precise definition of arbitrary.
In fact he got so upset about it, that after calling me a ♥♥♥♥ in multiple replies over a week he banned both myself and someone who was suggesting the wind shadow was somewhat overcooked.
If you enjoy having to tiptoe around over selling, over sensitive devs who can and will ban for little real reason, then go ahead.
(2lb gun, to obtain penetration would need 9,000fps, 4lb gun 4,000 fps - carronades penetrate as if fired from gun velocity, but decelerate around 4 times as fast as they should over distance etc).
So it depends what kind of games you like really.
If you are after an instant action sailing game then probably not the best choice.
If you like PVP, like games you can sink hours into and you like age of sails games then its well worth checking out at this price point.
Its not quick to get into or play once you know how but it can be a lot of fun.
When you first start its prob best to run through at least some of the tutorials and when you are done with those run a few kill missions. IT would also be best to find a clan so you can get some help in game and some people to sail with as well.
I cant comment on what the game is like on the PVE server as I only play on PVP.
Im a huge fan of the tall ship age and everything it entails.
I paid 40 dollars for this game and spent 70 on dlc over the last year.
I recommend this game if you want to enjoy a complicated sailing simulation that encourages skill and investment of time for a huge rewarding feeling.
If you do not enjoy the thrill of risking several hours of work on the chase and capture or sinking of an enemy with your friends and then the excitement of attempting to limp your wounded and undercrewed ship back to a friendly port before the enemy sniffs out your location.
Then that maybe your answer. This game excells tremendously at pvp teamwork and the thrill of firing the perfect broadside and knocking out a mast or catching the enemy on fire. It truly is a game all by itself nothing even comes close to the naval combat.
Some people as you can already see have really been bitter about this game but, people have their issues with all sorts of things in life. I hope that the excitement and also boredom the game can provide with either long treks to new ports or a simple trading mission down to the thrill of a small ship sinking a much larger through skill will help your decision.
At the end of the day I hope you have fun or find another game that will.
Reading some comments here and in the reviews are like a cold shower, especially about the grinding thing.
Yes the game is definately worth it at 10$. If you want to see what you are getting into read my review. As for dlc you dont need any. Play the game and if you like it then consider buying some dlc ships. All that grinding bs is just that... bs. You can reach max rank in a month or so and you can be fully independent economicaly in a few days after you start playing
If you're a pvper your experience may differ. It's not real big in North America anymore and there's only one pvp server - it's in Europe.
Total recommended...
Mostly players blaming this game, because they not enough hard core player..:D
And dont know how to play in a MMO sandbox game..:D
Two clans got upset about dev updates and are trying to review bomb the game. Don't pay attention to it, honestly. The meta has changed and players were upset about it. Doesn't effect you in the least.
Is not pay to win. Is just good fun. If there were no one else on the server you would still have a great time.
See you on the seas.
