Not even sure what to say to that.
The ship's log book they have introduced lets you know what PVP battles are nearby in a short distance. Combine this new Mario Kart wind boost for maximum ganking fun........
Having experienced it from both ends, I really like this new item. As a guy farming AI, having an occasional fiesty one that chains me, tries to board me in illogical ways, tries to stern camp my big ship while farming smaller ones, etc. Those are all healthy and fun challenges, I welcome it.
From the user perspective, it's also very satisfying, you get to PVP on demand without long sails, without risk and you can really have fun trying to mess with the player, trying your best to not look like an AI... Or make it painfully obvious by using chain or other stuff the AI doesn't do.
It's a great addition!
The logbook on the other hand is a bit too good of a ganker tool. The join window is short enough that it confers a huge advantage to gankers and not much to those avoiding said ganks. Not a fan of the logbook...
So this Loki Rune works from port, or? I kind of like the idea... at the same time I kind of don't. Seems like it opens all sorts of avenues for trolling people when they just want to get through some 'quiet' pve to keep their funds up.
The 'log book' sounds ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. Admin has decided that 'any pvp good pvp' since he totally screwed up the rules of engagement with 20min entry timers to favour port huggers and gankers.
The only annoying thing is if the user runs away instead of fighting... Nothing worse than a running AI, lol. In the one fight I did last night, the player did quick work of me (I was close to towers so I got demasted by it quick). The user got close to be at the end to loot me before I was done and I boarded him (he had twice my numbers). I got beat, but had I had more crew I could have messed his fight good, loll.
So anyway, they are loot drop items... this is the kind of info that patch notes were made for.
I wonder how it will play out with the 'all AI ships have magic abilities' thing. Either way, if folks thought AI were hard to handle they will have a fit when good players start lighting them up in pve disguised as AI.
